Malcom, Among The Worst Barcelona Moves Ever

Over spending on unproven players has been this Barcelona administration’s biggest criticism. Perhaps with all the best intentions of the world, but Malcom was perhaps one of the worst additions the club made in some time.

Let’s not kid ourselves, the club made the hijacking move over Roma for him because they weren’t able to bring in Antoine Griezzman last season.

Now that the French World Cup winner is in, the club wants to ship him out and is still hopeful they will get the same return value to invested in the player.

Let’s not forget, in his debut season at the Camp Nou, Malcom made just six starts in La Liga under manager Ernesto Valverde. Additionally, he made a total of 24 appearances throughout all competitions while racking four goals.

Additionally, the club has to make this move in order to bring another non-EU passport holder player, such as Neymar Jr. They currently have their max with Malcom, Arthur Melo and Arturo Vidal.

The latter are not leaving the club, but that opens the door for Malcom. Another player that came and now leaves while being compared to the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Lucas Digne, Yerry Mina, Jeison Murillo, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Andres Gomes, and Paco Alcacer.

The days of the Masilla are long gone, and the idea that Barcelona had “Cantera” versus “Cartera” too.

Zenit Saint Petersburg

A move to the Russian side is almost inevitable. The club have some financial muscle and are hopeful to finish the move soon.

In two seasons with Ligue 1 side, Bordeaux, Malcom showed some great skills and promises. He has the ability to play as left or right winger. However, his best is usually at right. He’s really good with the ball and can be a nightmare to defenders.

Though Zenit are not in elite European club, they will be playing in this season’s UEFA Champions League. For this reason a move to Gazprom Arena will be an ideal place for the Brazilian to reignite his career.
