Fantasy Premier League: Four Players Your Fantasy Team Should Include

The new Premier League season is just around the corner and fantasy managers from across the globe are preparing their teams before they battle it out with friends, family or other fantasy soccer fans.

The obvious key to coming out on top of your mini-league is to have goalkeepers and defenders that will keep clean sheets. Additionally, well ones that will chip in with assists and a few goals across the span of the season. The perfect midfielders and attackers would be ones that get among the goals on a regular basis, assist their teammates while being mostly injury-free for the majority of the season.

Here are the four players you should look to place in your fantasy team for this upcoming season.

Goalkeeper – Ederson

As Manchester City’s certified number one, Ederson fits perfectly into the way Pep Guardiola wants his defense to play. Last season he claimed 20 clean sheets which were second only to Liverpool’s Alisson with 21. Yet, being the only goalkeeper last season to register an assist, it is obvious Ederson’s distribution skills are straight from the top drawer. With City as top title contenders and incoming defensive reinforcements too, Ederson should have the cleanest of sheets by the end of the season.

Defender – Trent Alexander-Arnold

At the tender age of 20, Alexander-Arnold has already proved himself to be a top full-back in world soccer. The England international has locked down both starting spots for club and country over the last year while demonstrating the threat he poses as an attacking force as well as a dead ball specialist. He provided 12 assists from the right-back position last season. This achievement helped him get voted into the PFA Team of the Year. Alexander-Arnold will score points from both sides of the ball; a long-term option for your fantasy team.

Midfielder – James Maddison

A cut-price gem compared to the Sterling’s and De Bruyne’s of this world. Maddison performed remarkably well in his debut Premier League campaign. With seven goals and seven assists to his name, playing in behind talisman Jamie Vardy, Maddison bedded himself into a sturdy Premier League team that will be stronger with the permanent signing of Belgian star Youri Tielemans and former Newcastle attacking midfielder Ayoze Perez. In a midfield that will also include the likes of Wilfred Ndidi and Demarai Gray, Leicester and Maddison will be a force to reckoned with as they aim for the European qualification spots.

Striker – Callum Wilson

Unlike their top six counterparts, there will be no domestic distractions for Bournemouth this season. As their main striker, Callum Wilson should be at the top of every fantasy manger’s wish list. Another reasonably priced player compared to more prolific strikers like Agüero. Wilson is a solid pick up for any manager that needs a player who will score at least 12 goals in the season, a feat that reached last season. Coming back from his horrific knee ligament tear, Wilson is now back. He will be firing on all cylinders. Wilson will be a worthy investment for managers that need a cheaper goalscorer from a team outside of the top six.
