Kroos Extends Contract With Real Madrid

Toni Kroos has extended his contract with Real Madrid until 2023.

Initially, it was unclear whether the German international would be involved in his coach’s plans for next year.

However, the 29 year old’s commitment – which sees the contract extended just one year – is a clear indication that Zinedine Zidane sees him as a part of his midfield going forward.

Like Kroos’ teammates, the midfielder has had a season to forget. Both on an individual level and collectively as a team.

Specifically, his performances were an item of conversation as Madrid’s season fell apart. Nevertheless, the world cup winner remains as the white’s favored option in the center midfield position.

His competition, Dani Ceballos, is all but gone from the Spanish capital. Likewise, Mateo Kovacic, currently on loan at Chelsea, is unlikely to return.

Currently, Zidane and the fans are likely to appreciate the midfielder’s early indication of his commitment. Los Blancos now only lack a reliable player to back him up at the position.

With Toni’s extended contract set to end when he is 31, the former Bayern Munich player is on course to spend what most people consider to be a player’s prime years in the Spanish capital.
