SmackDown Live Tag Division in Shambles
As if the WWE needed any more things to worry about in regards to SmackDown Live; with the upcoming move to FOX just months away, the SmackDown Tag Team division took another hit this week.
The Hardyz (Matt and Jeff Hardy) had to relinquish championships this past week after Jeff suffered an injury which kept him from action.
Along with Big E of The New Day, who is currently nursing an injury, that leaves the show with just four teams in their division. Before the Superstar Shake-up in April, SmackDown had The Usos, The Bar, The New Day, The Colons, Sanity, Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson, and Shinsuke Nakamura & Rusev in their division.
They also courted Heavy Machinery and Aleister Black & Ricochet, though both teams were technically free agents, at the time.
However, after the shake-up, and the injuries, their tag division is looking a lot smaller; with Heavy Machinery, The B-Team, Nakamura/Rusev, and The Colons left. It isn’t known how long Big E is expected to be out; while reports have Hardy looking at upwards of 9 months to heal.
Given that major moves were made to beef up Raw’s tag division (which was seen as weaker before the shake-up); they are only missing The Authors of Pain (AOP), due to Akam currently being sidelined with an injury.
The Usos, Gallows & Anderson now join The Revival, Lucha House Party, The Viking Raiders and RAW tag champs Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder in the division.
No word on how WWE will handle the vacated titles at the present time.
