Hofstra has Pride in Justin Wright-Foreman
Currently, March Madness is picking up steam. During this time of the year, a lot of crazy things happen in college basketball. Teams that have shown to be a Goliath all season get weak in the knees and allows a David to knock them to the ground. Either that or a player, who isn’t well known, makes a name for himself with legendary performances. March Madness is when the masses find out who is real and who is not. A player who has proven to be real all season is Hofstra Pride guard Justin Wright-Foreman.
If there is a player who is capable of opening eyes in March, it is Wright-Foreman. The lefty senior guard has been a walking bucket since his sophomore year. Yesterday, he won his second straight Colonial Atheltic Association (CAA) Player of the Year award, and this season, he has punished the competition. His list of accomplishments may be too long to list in this article alone.
Wright-Foreman is an offensive machine
For starters, he is second in the nation in scoring, averaging 26.8 points per game. Secondly, he has racked up double figures in 84 consecutive games. Not only is that a CAA record, but it is also the second longest streak in the nation. In addition to his many accolades, he also holds school-records in made three-pointers (102) and points scored in a single game (dropped 48 points against William & Mary on February 9th). Wright-Foreman is a scoring machine who will be a force to be reckoned with if Hofstra makes the NCAA Tournament.
The Queens, New York native can score the ball in multiple ways. He can drive to the hoop and finish at the rim, even with contact. Also, if he drives right, he has developed a smooth floater that he can score at will. While his layup and floater game is serious, he makes his money on the perimeter. He shoots an impressive 44.3% from deep, and his pull-up jumper is NBA ready. Overall, he shoots 52.1% from the field, which is impressive for a shooting guard.
Lately, Wright-Foreman has been on a tear
In his last six games, Wright-Foreman has been on an absolute tear for the CAA leading Pride. He averaged 30.2 points while shooting 52.8% from the field and 50% from the land of plenty. Right now, Wright-Foreman is a player not many teams want to see, and if he can lead Hofstra to the big dance, watch out! Hofstra boasts the 8th best offense in the nation, averaging 84.3 points per game.
Often, the recipe to pulling off an upset is an efficient offense plus a dominant scorer. Hofstra has both.
Be on the lookout for Wright-Foreman. He may be dropping 30-plus on a major conference team near you.
