Sam Roberts Won’t be Apologizing to Bianca Belair

Last weekend, NXT fans witnessed rising star, Bianca Belair, take on Shayna Baszler. Although many people believe Shayna is ready for a run on the main roster, Shayna was able to defend her NXT Women’s Championship belt against Belair.  So, it is safe to say Shayna won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. However, not everyone was happy to see Bianca Belair as the challenger. In fact, during the NXT TakeOver Kick Off Show, Sam Roberts was not quiet. He said that he was simply not impressed with Belair, and she isn’t TakeOver quality. Additionally, he said she just didn’t belong in a title match.

Sam got dragged pretty badly for those comments, especially on Twitter. Many have responded to what he said, including Belair herself. “Kiss my ass,” was her response. Additionally, there was plenty of backstage heat involving those comments.

During Sam’s Not Sam Wrestling show, he said he wouldn’t apologize for speaking his mind:

“I was just going along with the show, so I shared exactly how I felt in that moment. I know Mark Henry has started a campaign saying that I owe Bianca Belair an apology, [but] I certainly will not be apologizing…because my opinion is my opinion.”

“There were people after the show who had conversations with me about ‘the way’ I said what I said.”

Sam Roberts was brought to the panel of TakeOver: Phoenix to give his opinion. Sam also says that he’s not going to let what anyone says bother him. He remains unapologetic.

I don’t know about you, but I really felt that this TakeOver was underwhelming. Although there were great moments as usual, the overall show was just okay. Maybe it’s because in the past, the TakeOver shows have been 5-stars through and through. It’s almost like we’ve been spoiled. Maybe that’s why I was slightly disappointed.

But of course, as soon as I said it was underwhelming on Twitter, I got attacked. I was called a smark, a mark, an AEW thumper. Blind? Dumb? Did I even watch the PPV? Yes, my friends. But that’s the beauty of an OPINION. You don’t have to agree with it. It is not fact-based. You CAN agree to disagree.

Sam, I feel for ya. And although Belair has done great to improve herself since beginning, I have to agree with him. I was uncertain of the match-up before even watching it, but was willing to try it out. The match was sloppy, boring, and just uninteresting. Does anyone deserve taking on Shayna more than Bianca? Well, no, not really. But that’s kind of the problem. Hopefully, the EST of NXT is placed into another feud before going after Shayna again. There are still some things that were clear cracks in the match that, as a title match, simply shouldn’t happen.
