Gattuso Confirms Higuain’s Interest To Leave Milan
AC Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso says he is “holding on tightly” to striker Gonzalo Higuain. There had been some speculation that the Argentinian forward has been unhappy since his arrival.
The 31-year-old is now being linked to a possible move to Stamford Bridge to join former boss Maurizio Sarri.
“When a player makes up his mind it becomes hard to convince them otherwise,” said Gattuso of Higuain.
“I have a relationship with him that features great honesty – we say things to one another’s face.
“At the moment, he’s our player and we’re holding on tightly to him.
“I don’t know what will happen. If it was up to me, I’d keep him at my house and feed him my dinner.”
Higuain joined Milan on a season-long loan from Juventus. He has scored eight goals in all competitions this season.
His most successful time in Serie A was under the command of Sarri when he played for Napoli. At Napoli, Higuain racked a Serie A goal-scoring record with 36 goals in the 2015-16 season.
However, a move to the Premier League may be difficult. Alvaro Morata’s exit needs to occur first before any move is made by Chelsea. The incoming forward will likely be the substitute to Olivier Giroud.
