Kyrie Irving Leads The Celtics To 108-105 Win Over The Pistons
It is finally time to say that Kyrie Irving is back. In the Boston Celtics 108-105 win over the Detroit Pistons, Irving had 31 points along with some nasty crossovers. However, it took a whole team effort to shutdown the red hot Pistons. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown made their impact on both ends, to go with Aron Baynes’ return.

As the game came to a close, Pistons point-guard Ish Smith hits a deep three with 11 seconds remaining to pull Detroit to within 1. Tatum would hit two free throws, and after a bad inbounds pass from Griffin, it was Irving diving on the floor for the ball. This effort allowed the Celtics to improve to 5-2.
Finally Playing in Unison
It has taken them awhile, but they finally look like the Celtics of old. Most importantly, it was the defensive will of the team. Although Griffin finished with 24 and the Pistons had 105 overall, this team was aggressive every possession and made them work. Detroit finished the game shooting only 42% from the field and 26% from deep. This is all thanks to the stiffening defense by Marcus Smart and Brown.
Lastly, respect needs to be paid to head coach Brad Stevens. Although the team gave up a lead in the fourth, he was able to keep them in the game. His leadership held them together. Moreover, the team made big plays in big moments, and as a coach that’s what you want to see.
Player of the Game: Kyrie Irving
Maybe it was the afro. Maybe it was the headband. It doesn’t matter anymore because Irving is back to being the offensive vocal point for this team. He was on fire, hitting four threes last night along with seven free throws. In addition, his diving for the loose ball at the end of the game is heroic in many ways. Plays like that are just what this team needs to be a top the Eastern conference.

Honorable mention: Jayson Tatum
A Look Forward to the Next Game
The Celtics are set to take on the undefeated Milwaukee Bucks in TD Garden, Thursday night. The Bucks have been rolling lately, however this wouldn’t be the first streak the Celtics have ended this season. Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is questionable for the game. If the Celtics can defeat Milwaukee, they will pick up their fourth win in a row in hopes of starting their own win streak.
