Sixers Get Routed By The Raptors On The Road, Lose 129-112

The Philadelphia 76ers had an opportunity to pickup a big win on the road last night. However, due in large parts to their own carelessness, they failed miserably. The Toronto Raptors took advantage of the 11 turnovers caused by Sixers point guard Ben Simmons. As a result, they used his negligence to propel themselves to a 129-112 victory.

Simmons was not the only Sixer who was a guilty party here. His teammates also contributed to the cause, resulting in a collective effort of 23 turnovers. Not to mention… the Raptors themselves were no exception to the lack of ball security. They had a total of 15 turnovers.

There’s Some Good News After all…

In the midst of the negative stats, there was a silver lining. We were treated to some valuable scoring output from all star caliber players from both squads. Joel Embiid delivered another monstrous performance with 31 points, 11 rebounds and four assists.

Kawhi Leonard matched Embiid in the scoring department, scoring 31 points. He also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out four assists. Most importantly, he was flawless in the one category which affected both teams, turnovers.

No Need to Panic… Yet

Now is not the time for the Sixers to enter panic mode. It’s far too early in the season to do so. However, it is imperative that they develop a sense of urgency. Evolving better defensive strategies and correcting the flaws in their rotations will be the key.

Finding a way to get wins against the premiere teams from the Eastern Conference like Boston, Milwaukee and Toronto will be crucial if they want to be able to make a deep run in the playoffs. The Sixers currently sit at 6th place in the east and possess a .500 win percentage. Next on the docket are a 4-3 Clippers team whom just suffered a lopsided victory to the Oklahoma City Thunder on the road. Will the Sixers be able to regroup and get past their turnover woes at home against that other team from LA? Tune in to find out!
