Klay Thompson Sets 3-Point Record, Warriors Rout Bulls 149-124

Entering last night’s game against the Chicago Bulls, Golden State Warriors marksman Klay Thompson was going through a shooting slump. He was shooting 5-36 (13.8%) from 3-point range, which was shocking considering he’s a career 42.2% shooter from 3-point territory. That slump ended last night, as Thompson led the Warriors to a 149-124 rout over the Bulls in Chicago. He set the record for the most three pointers made in a game. He made 14 3-pointers, breaking the record that was held by his teammate, Stephen Curry, who made 13 3-pointers in a game.

Thompson Had A Red Hot First Half

In the first half, the Warriors scored 92 points and had a 92-50 halftime lead on the Bulls. Thompson carried the load in the first half, shooting out of his slump. He scored 36 points and made 10 3-pointers. The 92 points the Warriors scored in the first half is definitely impressive. In 1990, the Phoenix Suns scored 107 in the first half against the Denver Nuggets. That record is still intact.

Klay Thompson Broke A Few More Records On His Historic Night

Thompson’s 52 points is an impressive feat, but what makes it even more impressive is he did it in 27 minutes of action. That’s now the record for the fewest minutes played in a 50-point game. Thompson also set the record on the most three point attempts in a game with 24. His 10 3-pointers he made in the first half is also a record.

When They’re Clicking, The Warriors Are A Cheat Code

What makes this mind boggling for fans is the Warriors have three guys who can score 40-50 points anytime they want. They’re literally a cheat code. Just before Thompson’s 52 point outburst, Kevin Durant scored 41 points against the New York Knicks last Friday night. Last Wednesday, Curry scored 51 points against the Washington Wizards, making 11 3-pointers. The pure shooting and scoring ability they possess is something we may never see again.

Up Next For The Warriors

The Warriors finished up their three game road trip last night. Now they head back to the Bay Area to face the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night at 10:30 PM EST. It should be a good game.
