The Women get their time to shine!
WWE is finally dipping their toes into the all-women pay per view concept; it promises to bring together talents from past and present for a spectacle, not unlike WrestleMania. After the initial announcement by Stephanie McMahon, fans responded with mixed emotions. In addition, many are thrilled that the women will have center stage for an entire show; bridging the divide between the men and women in a way that WWE has never done before. However, others were critical with claims that the show was simply a way to compensate the female talents for being excluded from the Greatest Royal Rumble Show earlier this year.
How did we get here?
Led by the drive and foresight of Triple H, the women’s division has seen remarkable growth in recent years seeing the first women’s main event on Raw; first pay per view main event, the first Hell in a Cell. The first women’s Elimination Chamber, first Royal Rumble, and now, finally, their first All-Women Pay-Per-View.
Immediately, wrestling fans started putting together dream matches in their heads; pitting today’s Women’s Revolution stars against the women who paved the way in the previous way of female talent. Who will be included? How will WWE creative match these amazing talents up to ensure matches that are both athletic but that also tell a story?
The Card So Far
Already announced for the WWE Evolution Pay-Per-View are some dream matches and a few expected attractions. The Finals of the Mae Young Classic will take place at Evolution; as the culmination of this year’s festivities pitting Io Shirai against Toni Storm. Also, there will be a match that offers a throwback feel with a new generational influence, as Trish Stratus returns to the ring to battle Alexa Bliss. Four championship matches are expected for the show. The Raw and Smackdown Women’s Championships will be defended. The NXT Women’s Championship will be included as well. The newest addition to the WWE family of championship gold, the NXT United Kingdom Women’s Championship will be featured as well.
The Booking
The remaining talent and champions will no doubt fall into place as they fill out the card. Additionally, the Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey is rumored to face either Stephanie McMahon or Nikki Bella. Michelle McCool who was announced for the show at the NXT Takeover Show is rumored to be facing Carmella. Beth Phoenix has also been announced as being involved potentially as an announcer but fans hope she will step into the ring.
What else can they do?
Fans have begun to express which dream matches they want to see. Nia Jax vs Awesome Kong a/k/a Kharma, Lita vs Ruby Riott, and even the long shot of one last match for Alundra Blayze, as she would take on Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte.
Undoubtedly several stars will be featured in matches not yet announced. Also, Becky Lynch, Bayley, Sasha Banks, Liv Morgan, Natalya, Kairi Sane defending the NXT Women’s Championship, Alicia Fox, Asuka, Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, Naomi, Brie Bella, Dana Brooke, Ember Moon, Lana, Maryse, Mandy Rose, Maria Kanellis, Mickie James, Sarah Logan, Sonya Deville, Tamina, Zelina Vega, and many more from the NXT roster.
Who will miss the show?
Unfortunately, several dream matches won’t take place. WWE has wished enough talent well on their future endeavors in the past and bad blood will hold them back from making the event a perfect show. Also, AJ Lee has stated that she is finished with wrestling. Gail Kim would be amazing, but, has made it clear that she is an Impact Wrestling girl through and through. The Beautiful People of Angelina Love and Velvet Sky have never had the opportunity, and now seem reluctant to participate. Also, Emma is in Ring of Honor now as are many amazing female talents including the entire Impact Knockouts Division and the other Women of Honor.
Who could WWE go for?
Several past and current talents could make the show must see. Additionally, Chelsea Green, Daffney, Taylor Wilde, Lacey Von Erich, Taryn Terrell, Sarah Del Rey, Jacqueline, Traci Brooks, Serena Deeb, Molly Holly, LeiD’ Tapa, Nidia, Jillian Hall, Kaitlyn, Kelly Kelly, Reby Sky, Christy Hemme, Mercedes Martinez, Holly and Hannah Blossom, ODB, SoCal Val, Terri Runnels, Leilani Kai, Victoria, Ashley Massaro, Ivelisse Velez, Katie Lee Burchill, Sunny, Eva Marie, Dawn Marie, Stacey Kiebler, Shelly Martinez, Summer Rae, Jazz, Ivory, Sable, Brooke Adams, Candice Michelle, Eve Torres, Torrie Wilson, Madison Rayne, or even the Jumping Bomb Angels.
The Perfect Lineup
After reviewing all of the possibilities, were I booking the show the card would include these matches:

Smackdown Women’s Championship – Charlotte vs Michelle McCool
NXT Women’s Championship – Kari Sane vs Shayna Baszler
NXT UK Women’s Championship – TBD
