Tokyo Sports have reported that Io Shirai (28) has signed with the WWE. Shirai will finish up with STARDOM on June 17th and head to the WWE.
Io Shirai Signs
Shirai and Kairi Hojo (now Kairi Sane) were offered deals with WWE, in 2016. However, there was issues with Shirai’s medical tests. WWE pulled back from the offer, and she returned to Stardom. Shirai underwent a full medical examination in Japan, and she was fully cleared. She has been the top star in the company ever since.
Shirai lost her Wonder of Stardom title to Momo Watanabe on Wednesday night, which this led to rumors of a WWE Debut.
WWE has also made offers to other STARDOM wrestlers as well. The Mae Young Classic will return this summer, and the Stardom Five Star Tournament has lost several wrestlers; originally set to compete. Shirai will be part of the 2nd annual Mae Young Classic.
