Britt Baker’s Concussion from AEW’s Fight for the Fallen is Serious

Unfortunately, one of the most imposing threats to the wrestling world is that of a concussion. In the past, not much was known about concussions and they were not seen as a huge threat to a performer. However, over the years, more information has been gathered and now concussions are seen as a more serious issue. Up-and-coming business, AEW, has already seen a scary concussion during Britt Baker’s match at Fight for the Fallen.

During the match, Britt took a kick to the back of her head by opponent Bea Priestly. She teeters over to the corner to make a tag to her partner…except she goes to the wrong corner, attempting to tag her opponent in. Here is a video. To the naked eye, it just looks like a mistake. However, it is not:

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio revealed early this week that Britt’s concussion is very serious.

“I heard it’s a significant concussion. In her case, when she crawled to go into the wrong corner…I think…after taking that kick and everything…she was hurting a lot. You know she shook it off and came back at the end and did her stuff. Didn’t screw up her moves at that point.”

Additionally, Britt was clearly not able to compete. Meltzer said that she should have been taken out of the match. Also, AEW should re-evaluate this for the future. Of course, taking a competitor out of the match is not what anyone wants. However, Britt shouldn’t have continued with the concussion.

Hopefully, Britt heals quickly as the AEW women’s division continues to be built up. As the first woman signed to AEW, it was obvious there were high hopes for her in the company. She could quickly find herself at the top of the division should everything go well.
