Serie A Contenders For Scudetto In 2019/20 Season
We once again reach the beginning of a new season in Serie A which will kick off this August 24.
Although no one has been able to decrown Juventus since 2012, there is a slight chance of change this season.
Perhaps not a huge one, but lets contemplate three major contenders.
Juventus
La Vecchia Signora has hold reign over Serie A for quite some time. Honestly, there is probably not a team that will be stopping this any time soon. Their offseason acquisitions involving Matthijs de Ligt, Aaron Ramsey, Luca Pellegrini, Adrien Rabiot, Merih Demiral and Gianluigi Buffon, are one of the best in some time.
Juve’s defensive line will be more than secure with de Ligt and Giorgio Chiellini. On top you have other defensive backups in Leonardo Bonucci, Daniele Rugani and Demiral. Their Left and Right Backs are out of this world in João Cancelo and Alex Sandro. Their backups aren’t bad at all either in Pellegrini and Mattia De Sciglio.
When considering the stacked middle line, Juventus has one of the better ones in Serie A. Miralem Pjanić, Blaise Matuidi, and the addition of Ramsey and Rabiot will give Maurizio Sarri’s side a strong midfield.
And let’s not forget the man, Cristiano Ronaldo. With Paulo Dybala, Mario Mandžukić and a possible stay of Gonzalo Higuaín, Juventus arsenal at front will be one to scare off lots of Serie A defenders.
There is not doubt that Juventus could possible take yet another Scudetto at the end of this upcoming season.
Inter Milan
With the sole arrival of Antonio Conte to the Nerazzurri become an almost possible contenders to the Scudetto. One can even say they could possibly steal it from Juventus.
However, the Milan side is still working on several pieces to put this team together.
Perhaps one of their better signings this summer has been the former Atletico de Madrid defender Diego Godín who joins on free transfer.
Nevertheless, their instability around Mauro Icardi and Lautaro Martinez, the Italian side seeks to revamp their offense with the likes of Gareth Bale, Edin Dzeko or Romelu Lukaku.
They are also interested in the services of Barcelona’s Arturo Vidal and Ivan Rakitic should Ivan Perisic departs the team.
Nevertheless, they remain a contender for Scudetto but probably only with an early exit in Champions League.
Napoli
Under the guidance of Carlo Ancelotti, and in his second season as the manager, Napoli seeks to give a jump of quality. Perhaps they are not bringing any of the top stars in the world but they have a core of players that have been in Napoli for some time and understand the Napoli way.
Meanwhile, Ancelotti is still hopeful on landing James Rodriguez from Real Madrid after the Colombian spent several years on loan at Bayern Munich.
They have added several defensive and midfield players this offseason with Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Kostas Manolas, Filippo Costas and Elif Elmas.
Nevertheless, they stand a chance at the Scudetto with Juventus focusing perhaps solely in Champions League.
