The Copa America semifinals get on the way with a classic matchup between the hosts Brazil and Lionel Messi’s Argentina.
Argentina is looking to reach the finals for the fifth time in 15 years, while Brazil seeks its third finals match in the same time.
Brazil is coming off one of their toughest matches since the beginning of this Copa America when they faced Paraguay.
Unlike Argentina, the Gauchos were able to get through Venezuela following a 2-0 win over the Vinotinto.
The Selecao remain favourites, despite Argentina showing signs of life recently.
However, Lionel Scaloni still needs to find a way to get Messi involved with his side.
Team News
Felipe Luis, Fernandinho and Richarlison are all dealing with injury issues for Tite.
For Scaloni, there are no major injuries. He looks to be sticking with the last several lineups with an addition of Giovani Lo Celso.
Lineups and Prediction (Brazil vs Argentina Preview)
Brazil XI (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Alves, Silva, Marquinhos, Alex Sandro; Arthur, Casemiro; Jesus, Coutinho, Everton; Firmino.
Argentina XI (4-1-2-1-2): Armani; Foyth, Pezzella, Otamendi, Tagliafico; Paredes; De Paul, Lo Celso; Messi; Martinez, Aguero.
Argentina and Messi have been rather unsuccessful in their last several attempts at any gold. Additionally, many feel this is all the making of Messi’s not being able to play with fellow teammates.
However, Brazil is playing host and the entire country is hoping for a win over their bitter rivals.
Nevertheless, the heat that both sides will have should they lose will be tremendous. While many will call for a complete failure for Argentina, others will blame Neymar should Brazil take a loss.
Argentina is looking strong, and perhaps this is just the last time Messi will get redemption for his lack of silverware for his side.
