Atlético De Madrid To Play Against MLS All-Star
The 2019 MLS All-Stars have their opponent in La Liga side Atlético De Madrid.
The 10-time La Liga champions become the second Spanish league side to play in the showcase. The first one was Real Madrid who played in 2017 in Chicago.
This year, the two sides will meet in Orlando City Stadium on July 31.
The Colchoneros lineup features Antoine Griezmann, Diego Costa, Álvaro Morata and Jan Oblak. All of which may not be with the team come July 31st as there are rumors that these stars will be exiting the team.
Nonetheless, Griezmann has mentioned his intentions to one day join MLS and be on the other side of field.
“It’s going to be nice to play against the best players in MLS,” he said.
“The league continues to improve every year. I [could] even see myself playing there in the future. It’s a league that I like and it will be nice for us to play them”
Last season, the game was held in Atlanta at Mercedez-Benz Stadium. Also, the matchup drew a record crowd of 72,317. Orlando City Stadium seats 25,500, and perhaps its due to the opponent.
