NXT Weekly Recap for the March 27, 2019 Episode of NXT
Hour One
The show begins with Adam Cole BAY BAY coming out to the ring.
Cole says he will leave the Barclay’s Center with the NXT Championship after NXT TakeOver: New York. He calls out his opponent, Johnny Gargano, so he can see what the future will look like.
Johnny Wrestling makes his way down to the ring.
The two foes soak in the battling “Adam Cole – Johnny Wrestling” chants from the crowd. Cole cuts in and says he doesn’t need the fans to cheer for him. Gargano says he loves the dueling chants.
Johnny says the reason Cole can’t name of all one million reasons why he can beat him is because Adam knows he can’t win.
“At the Barclay’s Center, you will find out why my names is Johnny TakeOver… BAY BAY!” -Johnny Gargano
Cole calls Johnny a loser since he rarely wins at TakeOver events. He lists off several accomplishments he’s himself has at TakeOvers, such as winning the first WWE WarGames, the inaugural NXT North American Championship, and other things. Cole asks Johnny what he’s done to deserve the NXT Championship match.
Johnny says his NXT beginning wasn’t as promising as Adam’s. He says his time came during a thrown together tag team match in the first Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Johnny says he was only invited back to NXT over and over again because he pours his heart into the ring every time he wrestles.
“I have earned everything I have, because this place is my life!” -Johnny Gargano
Johnny says he will fight to achieve his dream of becoming NXT Champion.
Cole begins to leave, but he pauses on the entrance ramp. He tells Johnny he can fight all he wants, but he will not win the title.
“Triple H says this match will be two-out-of-three falls… It will be Undisputed.” -Adam Cole
Women’s Two on Two Tag Team: Vanessa Borne & Aliyah vs Lacey Lane and Kacey Cantanzaro
Result: The match is cut short when Shayna Baszler attacks Kacey and Lacey
One on One: Matt Riddle vs Kona Reeves
Result: Riddle submits Reeves
- Part way through the match, Velveteen Dream is wheeled out onto the stage on a sofa. The women with him look strangely like Marina Shafir and Tessa Blanchard, but they are most likely Performance Center signees
- Matt Riddle wins via the Bro-Mission
Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Finals: Aleister Black & Ricochet vs The Forgotten Sons
Result: Ricochet pins Blake to crown himself and Aleister Black the winners of the 2019 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic
- Ricochet and Black win with a Black Mass/630 Senton combo
