NXT Recap for the March 20, 2019 Episode of NXT
The First Hour, the Only Hour
This week’s episode begins with WWE COO, and all-around scary dad, Triple H making his way to the ring with the vacant NXT Championship. Since Tommaso Ciampa is out with an injury, the title is now no longer with a champion.
Trips says that through hard work and dedication, every wrestler dreams to one day stand in an NXT ring. He does say that those dreams could sadly be taken away at any moment. Triple H announces Ciampa is going into surgery to fix his neck.
HHH says Johnny Gargano will still go on to NXT TakeOver: New York. He announces a Fatal Five-Way later in the night to choose Gargano’s opponent between Adam Cole BAY BAY, Rick O’Shea, Aleister Black, Matt Riddle, and Velveteen Dream. Triple H announces the NXT Championship match at NXT TakeOver: New York will be Two-out-of-Three Falls.
Charly Caruso is backstage with Keanu Reeves’s goofy cousin, Kona Reeves. The Forgotten Sons walk out after Kona says something currently under investigation. Ryker and Blake say it is their mission to win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic and go on to face The War Raiders.
Fatal Five-Way to Name Johnny Gargano’s Opponent at NXT TakeOver: New York for the Vacant NXT Championship: Adam Cole BAY BAY vs Ricochet vs Velveteen Dream vs Matt Riddle vs Aleister Black
Final Result: Cole pins Ricochet
- Following a Shining Wizard to the back of the head, Adam Cole BAY BAY wins the match by pinning Ricochet

Starting a “This is Awesome” chant during a movie does not have the same effect it does at a wrestling event…
