February 19th: Franchises are Able to Designate Franchise and Transition Tags
The 19th marks the first day that NFL clubs can designate franchise and transition players on their roster.
The Philadelphia Eagles could franchise tag unrestricted free agent, Nick Foles, to then trade him later on to receive some compensation for the Super Bowl MVP. The Houston Texans will likely slap the franchise tag on Jadeveon Clowney, one of the league’s prolific linebackers.

March 13th (4 PM EST): Teams Must Submit Offers to Restricted Free Agents
Restricted free agents are players whose current contracts are expiring, but, have accrued fewer than the necessary seasons (four) to become an unrestricted free agent. Franchises retain the “Right of First Refusal/Compensation” if they submit a qualifying offer to their respective restricted free agents by 4 pm on March 13th.
