Hideo Itami Has Asked for His WWE Release; WWE is Granting Him His Release

Following rumors and speculation on Dean Ambrose possibly leaving WWE, Cageside Seats is reporting Hideo Itami is asking for his release from WWE. A rumor began after 205 Live this last Tuesday night before several news sites broke the story.

The Heart of Matter

There are many rumors surrounding WWE talent and their supposed desire to be released by the company. The Revival and Mike Kannelis are a few of the people supposedly asking for a way out. Dean Ambrose is the most recent name to pop up, with WWE even releasing a statement about it on Twitter. But, in Dean’s case, it seems too much like a storyline.

Not a storyline, however, is Hideo Itami (formally known as KENTA). The Japanese born wrestler is a part of the 205 Live roster since early last year. Itami came onto the NXT scene with a rocket strapped to his back and all the promise in the world. Unfortunately, several injuries plagued his early days in the yellow brand and greatly hindered his momentum.

Itami’s reasons for leaving the WWE apparently stem from frustrations with his creative direction. He’s been featured on 205 Live for most of 2018, but he hasn’t won a main roster title. After being hurt on NXT, there was a lot of hope when he made the jump to the cruiserweight exclusive show, but that is apparently not enough for Hideo.

As of the writing of this article, WWE hasn’t made an announcement about Hideo’s release yet. Hideo changed his name on Twitter back to KENTA, so he will most likely go back to that name when he returns to wrestling, which will also most likely be in his native homeland of Japan.

Good luck to KENTA and his future in pro-wrestling outside of WWE.
