5 Male and 5 Female Superstars Most Likely to Win the Royal Rumble 2019
As we all know, it’s that wonderful time of year again. Thirty men and women, all eager to earn a shot at the main event of WrestleMania, take turns throwing each other over the top rope and onto the floor. Don’t forget, both feet much touch for an elimination to count. This Five Things article brings you the top five men and women I personally believe would benefit the most over a win in their respective Rumbles.
The Men
5: Seth Rollins
Obviously, right? “The Kingslayer” arguably has the most momentum going into Sunday. He’s promising a win and a WrestleMania main event.
It’s no secret Rollins is one of the best wrestlers, not just in WWE, but the entire world. Having him headline WrestleMania is a glimpse into a future where wrestlers with great talent get taken seriously.
4: Drew McIntyre
Speaking of great talent, for a 6’5″ behemoth, Drew McIntyre is a great athlete. Aside from Rollins, he’s the fan favorite to win the Rumble this Sunday. Whether it would be Brock or Finn, McIntyre could potentially put on a show stealing match with either man.
3: An NXT Call-up
Any of them really. Imagine The Velveteen Dream debuting in the Royal Rumble Match and actually winning it. Instant stardom for a great wrestler. Or maybe Adam Cole BAY BAY wins and The Undisputed Era head into their first WrestleMania. There really is no bad option currently in NXT’s brand that would be a bad selection, as long as they’re well established and ready to make the jump.
2: Samoa Joe
It’s about time Joe gets a main roster title. He’s gotten a few oppurtunities against AJ Styles, but he needs a huge win to give him that extra nudge. Winning the Royal Rumble Match is that push he needs.
1: Kofi Kingston
It’s time. A world title run is long over due for Kofi Kingston. After over a decade of hard work and dedication, winning the Royal Rumble and headlining WrestleMania is a moment Kingston deserves.
The Women
5: Alexa Bliss
After being on the shelf due to complications with multiple concussions, Alexa needs a huge win to put her back on track. Pulling off winning the Royal Rumble when she is surely one of the least likely to win is a big way to do that. Besides, Alexa is most popular with the fans when she’s the center of attention. Maybe headlining “the grandest stage of them all” is the best way to bring her to the forefront.
4: Becky Lynch
The majority of WWE fans would like to see Ronda Rousey vs Becky Lynch to main event WrestleMania 35. To do that, Becky would need to win the Royal Rumble. She’s “The Man” and most of the fans are demanding that she headlines ‘Mania in the first women’s main event. It will add to their ongoing feud as well, since Lynch has yet to get vengeance on Ronda after she cost her the SmackDown Women’s Championship.
3: Charlotte Flair
If Becky can’t win, might as well go with the second best case scenario. Ronda Rousey needs a challenger at WrestleMania, and it looks like it will either be Charlotte or Becky. If Becky doesn’t win, then Charlotte should so Ronda has that big name opponent. Plus, Flair has a birth right to main event a show as big as WrestleMania.
2: Bayley
It’s unfortunate that Bayley is mistreated the most out of the Four Horsewomen. She’s quite clearly one of the most talented members of the group, but she’s usually overlooked when looking at Charlotte, Becky, or Sasha. Since Sasha is in the title match with Ronda, Bayley will be in the Royal Rumble Match. It would be a good feeling to see “The Hugger” have a shot at a second go with the women’s title.
1: Sonya Deville
Because who would see that coming? Sonya’s had a strange time over on SmackDown Live. She was treated as a jobber to big name Superstars. Then she started winning against said big name wrestlers. Then she went back to jobbing. And then she almost won a battle royal to become number one contender for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.
Right now, going into Royal Rumble 2019, Sonya seems like an afterthought. If she upsets the odds and wins, not only will it be a huge win for her, but she will have all the fan backing in the world against whoever she chooses. It’s no secret she’s a fan favorite with just about every WWE fan. So it can be guaranteed that very little will be against seeing her headline WrestleMania.

If Kenny Omega shows up, he can win both Rumbles for the heck of it…
