Five Wrestlers that should Leave WWE to join AEW
Everyone knows by now that Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks are officially opening All Elite Wrestling. With the financial backing of Shahid Khan (the owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars), they can probably sign whoever they want; Heavy rumors are already surrounding the arrival of Kenny Omega to AEW once his New Japan contract expires.
In terms of WWE, a few fan favorites are hinting at possibly making the jump. As of now, nobody is making any moves. But, much like in the 90’s with WCW, sometimes we’d like to see our favorite stars make a change of scenery to have a fresh start, recreate themselves, or just find the exposure they deserve.
Since people like lists, here are five WWE Superstars that should make the jump to All Elite Wrestling.
Honorable Mentions:
Tye Dillinger
“The Perfect Ten” had all the momentum in the world when he debuted in NXT. He caught the hope of every WWE fan when he showed up on the main roster at the 2017 Royal Rumble. Now, he hasn’t appeared on SmackDown Live for longer than a few moments in well over a year. Dillinger is a tremendous talent and it would be a shame if it went to waste.
Bobby Roode
The fact that Roode hasn’t won a main event title in WWE yet feels like some kind of crime. At 41, Roode doesn’t seem like he’s ready to hang up his boots just yet. But maybe a return to the independent scene will give him the spotlight he deserves.
Apollo Crews
It feels like WWE isn’t really sure what to do with Apollo these days. He got a big push when he debuted on the main roster, then he was off tv for a while. Then he joined Titus O’Neil to form Titus Worldwide, then they lost all the time. Now, they seem to be giving him more of the limelight, but maybe Apollo could do better as an indie darling and eventually make a return to WWE.
5: Zack Ryder
Ryder is arguably one of the most beloved Superstars in WWE today. He has a social media presence like no one else. Fans demand that he appear on something other than Main Event; He only appeared on one RAW in 2018.
After over a decade with the company, one would expect him to be a world champion at least once. But he’s had two “blink and you’ll miss it” mid-card title runs.
Now that this new promotion is starting, he might have a place to have the spotlight he obviously deserves. For now at least, it doesn’t look like Ryder wants to leave. But Cody Rhodes himself has gone to Twitter to tell Ryder he shouldn’t be afraid to go after what he wants.
Some perspective for you babe…several years ago the biggest star in the world(in MSG), the Rock was standing in the ring and the crowd was chanting “we want Ryder”…
Whatever you do now, do it without fear. I mean Pam went and did that Pratt Institute thing… https://t.co/rUymi8SSXr

4: Sasha Banks
Sasha Banks isn’t a very good wrestler. There, it’s been said. I know, I’m a terrible person. The thing is when it comes to Banks is that she can’t simply go back to NXT or the Performance Center and better her wrestling skill. She’s been in the main event scene on RAW in years past, so it wouldn’t make a lot of sense. She’s been training hard for her match against Ronda Rousey, but it feels like it’ll take more than sparring with Drew Gulak once for an hour.
Maybe a trip back to the indie scene, maybe even AEW, could make her the main event prospect she thinks she is. Afterwards, she can return to WWE a better wrestler and be as great as she has the promise to be.
3: The Usos
There can only be some many times Jimmy and Jey can wrestle The New Day before they start to run out of things to do to keep things interesting. Think about it for a moment, not counting New Day, what other tag team in WWE could they face that would create excitement and carry out a great match? Honestly, maybe The Revival, but they’re supposedly on their way out.
Think about The Usos vs The Young Bucks. Or So-Cal Uncensored vs The Usos. They would most likely have to go by their birth name of Fatu, but their credibility would stick to them no matter what they called themselves.
2: Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson
I would’ve slipped Finn Balor in with The Good Brothers if he wasn’t finally receiving his main event push.
Gallows and Anderson are a great tag team. More than likely one of the best in the world. But they haven’t had a run at tag team gold since winning the RAW Tag Titles in 2016. So maybe another independent run, this time with AEW, could bring back the promise that made them stand out in NJPW originally.
1: The Revival
One day we’ll wrestle The Revival & everyone will rejoice. Remember this tweet.
— The Young Bucks® (@MattJackson13) December 4, 2018
— Scott Dawson (@ScottDawsonWWE) December 4, 2018
Does anything really need to be said? The Revival are an amazing team. Their run in NXT is possibly the best tag team run in NXT’s history. Fans excitedly watched on to see what Dash and Dawson had in store for the main roster. Then injuries plagued the duo and they lost their colossal push. And they never got that momentum back again.
Just… For the love of God, go fight The Young Bucks. It’ll be the greatest tag team match ever in terms of work ethic and hype and wrestling skill and… Sometimes simulated matches in WWE 2k19 isn’t enough and we need the real thing. If rumors are true, and Dash and Dawson really have asked for their releases, then this dream match may happen soon. Otherwise, we wait for AEW to die out and The Young Bucks sign with WWE.
Social Media
To be fair, it’s criminal Lana is allowed to wrestle at all…
