The Rock May Headline 2019 WWE Hall of Fame
The WWE Hall of Fame ceremony is a huge part of WrestleMania weekend. The celebration of WWE’s greatest wrestlers is usually the first event for the weekend; But this year it has swapped places with NXT TakeOver: New York. Every year the event is headlined by one of the greatest of all time. This year, as rumored by RingSideNews, The Rock is being strongly considered to headline the event.
The People’s Hall of Famer
The Hall of Fame class is usually made up of former wrestlers that are no longer competing in-ring. The Rock hasn’t competed since WrestleMania 29 against John Cena in a WWE Championship main event (there’s also that squash match against Eric Rowan at WrestleMania 32, but we don’t like to discuss that).
On top of no longer competing in matches, Rocky has had an incomparable career. The People’s Champion main events WrestleMania multiple times; He’s a former WWE World, Intercontinental, and Tag Team champion; He’s also credited for winning the Royal Rumble even though the victory was later reversed.
One of the rumors as to why WWE switched TakeOver: New York and the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony was because The Rock was only available for the event on that Saturday. He apparently wouldn’t be able to attend if it was on the usual Friday before ‘Mania. Of course, that’s just Davey Meltzer Boy’s personal opinion and speculation.
WWE usually doesn’t announce their next Hall of Fame class until WrestleMania season rolls around. That isn’t until early January before the Royal Rumble.
Along
The Rock’s spot in the hall is bound to happen sooner or later. Whether or not it will be 2019 is still up in the air, but he is more than deserving of a spot among the best in WWE history.
