Manchester City Trounce Bournemouth 3-1
Manchester City moves to five points clear at the top of the table. As Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan strike to secure the three points.
Raheem Sterling again proved that he is the bane to AFC Bournemouth as he helped Manchester City to a 3-1 win at the Etihad Stadium.
Bournemouth was bright initially, with Wilson unable to turn home Ryan Fraser’s low cross from a clever short corner, but City soon established control.
Gabriel Jesus stretched to hit the ball wide from an Oleksandr Zinchenko delivery. The Ukraine international’s ball over the top of the Cherries defense brought out Asmir Begovic to thwart Leroy Sane. Silva was on hand to crash home the loose ball.
City goalkeeper Ederson pushed Josh King’s cross, but could not keep out Wilson’s powerful 44th-minute header.
The England winger’s ninth goal of the season owed more to opportunism than ingenuity, however, as Begovic clumsily spilt Danilo’s shot for him to find the roof of the net.
Sane managed to find space down the left to tee up fellow German Gundogon to finish off the game.
What’s wrong with Gabriel Jesus?
The Brazil striker is low on confidence in front of goal from open play. He did score a Hat-trick against Shakhtar Donetsk, but he was boosted by two penalty goals. It looks like his goal-scoring touch is still suffering from his goal-less World Cup.
What next?
City will travel to Watford on Tuesday when Bournemouth entertain Huddersfield Town.
