Florida Panthers Defeat the Philadelphia Flyers 2-1
On Tuesday, The Florida Panthers topped the Philadelphia Flyers by a score of 2-1. With this, The Panthers have won five straight games after only winning two games in October. In addition, this loss snaps the Flyers six-game point streak.
Mike Hoffman extended his point streak to 13 games, tying Pavel Bure for the longest in Panthers history. In addition, Hoffman now has 15 points in all 15 games the Panthers have played this season.
Roberto Luongo stopped 30 of 31 in this effort. He is now 4-0-0 in his last four starts.
Brian Elliot made 29 out of a possible 30 saves.
Game Summary
1st period
Although there were great looks by both squads, the two teams remained scoreless through the first period.

2nd period
Goal: FLA 1-0 FLA
Aaron Ekblad would get the Panthers on the board first with his first of the season on the power play. Ekblad would shoot a rebound off of the post fired from Frank Vatrano. It would bounce off the blocker of Brian Elliot and into the net. Additionally, Mike Hoffman assisted on the goal, giving him a 13-game point streak. It is tied for the longest in Panthers history. Time of the goal was 8:15.
Goal: FLA 2-0 FLA
Evgenii Dadonov would extend the Panthers lead and his point streak with this goal. After a lead-pass from Aleksander Barkov, Dadonov would cut into the offensive zone and run into Christian Folin. Dadonov would fake a drop pass then snap one past Elliot. This goal extends Dadnov’s point streak to 12 games. As a result, it is the first time that two teammates had point streaks of at least 12 games since 2007 when Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby and Evgenii Malkin hit that mark. Time of the goal was 17:35.
Shots on goal were 13-8 in favor of Florida.
3rd period
Goal: PHI 2-1 FLA
Jakub Voracek would get the Flyers within one goal with this tally. After a rush from Florida, Philadelphia would go on the attack. Sean Couturier would feed the puck to Oskar Lindbolm and carry it into the zone. He would feed Voracek from all the way on the other circle and send it upstairs past Luongo. Time of the goal was 3:55.
Despite constant pressure from the Flyers, it would not be enough to force overtime.
Final shots on goal were 31-30 in favor of Philadelphia.
