Four NBA Free Agents that Could Help the Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics capped off their disappointing road trip with a close loss to the Portland Trail Blazers. Portland’s Jusuf Nurkic ended the game with 18 points and 17 rebounds, and led the Blazers to a 100-94 win. The Celtics failed to respond to the Blazers’ interior attack. Aron Baynes only played 8 minutes, and the Celtics players consistently made inexcusable rotations leading to mismatches. For the Celtics, looking at potential free agents who have experience might can give them the boost they need.

Potential Free Agents The Celtics Should Look At
After the game, Kyrie Irving was quoted as saying, “Right now I think that it would be nice if we had someone that was a 15-year vet, 14-year vet, that could just kind of help us race along the regular season and help us understand that it’s a long marathon rather than just a full-on sprint of when you want to play.” With that being said, here are four NBA free agents and veterans who could help the Boston Celtics.
Jason Terry
Although reports are that Terry will be playing in the Big 3 league, he is still looking to play his 20th season in the NBA. “The Jet” was a veteran presence on the Milwaukee Bucks helping the development of stars Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kris Middleton. Even though he is no longer the impact scorer he once was, Terry’s championship experience and killer mentality will help this Celtics squad.
Willie Reed
Reed is currently playing for the Salt Lake City Stars in the G-League. However, this won’t stop Boston from buying his contract. Reed may not be the “15-year vet” that Irving is looking for, but he does provide much needed energy to the team. Reed is a strong interior defender, rebounder, and finisher. He can be compared to Ronny Turiaf, a guy who won a championship with the Miami Heat, because of infectious energy on every possession.
Corey Brewer
I can hear a collective snicker from the entire Lakers fan base. Brewer was the 7th overall pick in the 2007 NBA draft. Although he has never lived up to expectations, he has had a solid career. Brewer is a guy who will be active on defense, and push the pace on offense. Furthermore, Brewer won a championship with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011. That’s the experience this team desperately needs. Most of all, the Celtics need his energy.
Jameer Nelson
Last season, Nelson was traded to the Detroit Pistons for previously mentioned Willie Reed. Nelson was an all-star point guard for those Orlando Magic teams featuring Dwight Howard. Although Nelson may not have much left in the tank, he is a reliable ball-handler, shooter, and playmaker. Most importantly, he will be a locker room presence for the guys whose egos are getting out of control.
