Alexa Bliss Addresses Retirement Rumors
Alexa Bliss is currently sidelined with a concussion. Normally that would mean a few weeks of rest and she’d be good as new. But, it’s been almost a month since Bliss has stepped into a WWE ring. Many fans are fearing this means she will retire due to her injuries. But, according to Bliss herself, her career is far from over.
The “C” Word
Concussions are a tricky injury to handle. A concussion happens when the head is struck so hard that the brain collides with the inner part of the skull. According to Wrestling Observer, Alexa Bliss is suffering from more than one concussions she has received over the last few months. This explains why she is transitioning to a managerial role and not competing.
When Bliss was announced as the team captain for RAW’s Women’s Survivor Series team, and not wrestling herself, many fans are assuming the worst. Like Paige and her career ending back injury, most people think that Bliss will now end her in-ring career due to her numerous head injuries.
“I’ll Be Back”
Just to set the record straight about her possible in-ring retirement, Bliss addressed the WWE Universe with a tweet:
… I’m not going anywhere. ?? pic.twitter.com/7LHnMPLc4v
— Lexi Kaufman (@AlexaBliss_WWE) November 11, 2018
It’s looking like Alexa has no intention of hanging up her boots anytime soon. Now this tweet obviously doesn’t one-hundred percent mean Alexa will return to the ring. But it does put hope in all of her dedicated fans.
Head injuries are one of the most common injuries in professional sports. It is possible to return from these injuries, but the chances of a follow up concussion does increase somewhat. Since Bliss has multiple under her belt, she may need to stay away from wrestling longer.
We send our best wishes to the “Goddess of WWE” and hope to see her in the ring once again in the near future.
