Nets Rally Back In Brooklyn To Drop Pistons In Overtime
Last night, the Detroit Pistons played their second game of a back-to-back against the Brooklyn Nets in Brooklyn. Detroit failed to bounce back after losing their last two games against the Boston Celtics. They dropped their third straight game, losing to the Brooklyn Nets in overtime 120-119.
An Unmemorable Night For Pistons Fans
Both teams started out missing a lot of shots in a messy first quarter. The Nets were up by 16 at one point in the first half. Detroit shot only 20% from the field in the first quarter. However, the Pistons made a run to keep it close.
Detroit came out in the second quarter attacking the rim early to take the lead. They worked their way out from there. This quarter involved a lot of up and down basketball with both teams taking a lot of shots. Detroit lost one of their most valuable shooters in Reggie Bullock.
This meant Bruce Brown and Glenn Robinson received playing time. They both stepped up and appeared comfortable in taking their own shots. The Pistons ended the half shooting 39% from the field while securing a six point lead.
Pistons and Nets Played A Crazy Second Half
The Pistons increased their lead throughout the third quarter as they got Brooklyn in foul trouble three minutes into the quarter. Spencer Dinwiddie, however, started getting hot after a scoreless first half. Dinwiddie started going off, which disrupted the Pistons flow. Detroit maintained their lead, but couldn’t build on it as Brooklyn kept hanging on.
The Nets, led by Dinwiddie, eventually took the lead with 1:30 left in the game. After a three-pointer and two free-throws by Blake Griffin, the Pistons have a 110-107 lead with 22.6 seconds left to play. Dinwiddie then hit a crucial three-pointer to send the game to overtime. After a slow overtime period, none other than Dinwiddie delivered the game winning three-pointer. This led to the Nets beating Detroit 120-119 to get their revenge.

Takeaways
After losing Luke Kennard to injury last week, the Pistons now lost Bullock to an ankle sprain. He was unable to return to the game. However, the severity of his injury is unknown. These injured players make up two of Detroit’s better three-point shooters, which could mean trouble moving forward. The Pistons struggled to score as they shot 32% from beyond the arc and 41% from the field.
In addition, the Detroit defense hasn’t been consistent throughout games as they blew a double digit lead and eventually lost the game.
Looking Ahead
The Pistons are going through their first slump of the season. The method in which they react is what will start to show the true colors of this team. The Pistons have another tough road game in Philadelphia against the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday.
