Kevin Love Could Miss More Than A Month Of Action Due To Toe Injury
Kevin Love, the Cleveland Cavaliers’ power forward has missed the last two games due to injury. It seems that Love will miss more than a month of action due to a toe injury on his left foot. This injury has been bothering Love since preseason and Cleveland plans to let the rehabilitation begin for the All-Star.
Love missed most of Cleveland's exhibition season and is still dealing with the foot issue, so an extended absence is a possibility unless the Cavaliers can determine a speedier treatment course https://t.co/Od8C4f5M0t

After appearing in one exhibition game, it seemed as if Love would not have any more issues with the lingering injury. Love averaged 19.0 points, 13.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in the Cavaliers’ first four games. But one key factor that may have gave away that Love was not fully back into his “All-Star form” was his percentage from the field. He only shot 32.3 percent from the field and made just 29.2 percent from behind the arc.
Love, 30, signed a four-year $120 million contract extension with the Cavaliers during the off-season. He is now the focal point of Cleveland’s offense following the departure of LeBron James to the Los Angeles Lakers. Despite his heroic efforts on offense during the four games he played in, the Cavaliers failed to get a win, including the last two at home.
Where’s the Love in Cleveland?
The Cavaliers and Love are consulting with doctors to consider the limited short-term solution. But with nagging pains along with an 0-6 start, makes it less logical for Love to push through the injury. Without Love, this could put the reigning Eastern Conference Champs into an even deeper spiral. This leaves them without the team’s most reliable offensive player.
Ever since his departure from Minnesota, injuries continue to follow Love. He ended his first season with Cleveland abruptly when he suffered a shoulder injury in the first round of the playoffs. In the last two seasons, Love has been selected to play in the NBA All-Star Game but missed both years also due to injury.
With this 0-6 start, Cleveland fired Head Coach Tyronn Lue on Sunday. They’re replacing him on an interim basis with Assistant Coach Larry Drew. Maybe Cleveland wants to revamp the entire team. But if the Cavaliers wanted to trade Love, and start brand new, then they’ll have until early February to get rid of the 11-year veteran. Of course, until Love fully recovers, his trade value is diminished.
