La Liga
¿Y Vinicius Pa’ Cuándo? (When will we see Vinicius?)
“You desire to succeed with this badge and now it’s time to do it”. These were the words expressed to Vinicius Jr. by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez at the Brazilian’s presentation back in July.
Although, most fans at the time shared excitement at the signing of the 18 year old winger, some doubted his experience. “Even at this age I’ll show the coach and my teammates that I’m ready.” was the player’s response.
Unfortunately for the teenager, opportunities to prove himself in the Spanish capital are rare. Much to the frustration of many in his home country, coach Julen Lopetegui deemed the Brazilian unready, and sent him to the B-team.
Nevertheless, only a month later and with his team badly needing a goal, the speedy forward debuted in La Liga. Facing a 0-0 draw against Atletico, Lopetegui brought on the Brazilian to attack a tired Juanfran at right back.
Although ‘Los Blancos’ were unable to score and the match ended in a tie, Vinicius’ speed, dribbling and attacking awareness clearly influenced the opposition. This raised the question among fans, “When will Vinicius be utilized?”
Y Vinicius Pa’ Cuándo?
Spanish program ‘El Chiringuito de Jugones’ led the charge. On Monday, a new hit song was born. Modifying the lyrics, the popular sport’s show hilariously provided us with their version of Jennifer Lopez’s song ‘El Anillo’.
Indeed, fans want to know. When will we see the fruits of the young Brazilian’s £40.50m price tag? Most agree that such talent – no matter how inexperienced – belongs in the team’s squad.
For the most part, it seems Lopetegui has decided the former Flamengo winger is ready for something. The talented attacker was in the squad list for Tuesday’s UCL Group Stage lost to CSKA Moscow.
With the absence of Gareth Bale to injury, many expected the Brazilian to get his UCL debut. However, that was not the case as Madrid’s goalless run extended to three games.
For now, thousands of Madrid fans join El Chiringuito in singing, ‘Y Vinicius Pa’ Cuándo?’.
