Luka Modric Wins 2018 The Best FIFA Men’s Player

Luka Modric won the 2018 The Best FIFA Men’s Player award this past Monday in London. This is the first time that another player not named Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi have won the award. This of course, considering the successive partnering of the Ballon d’ Or and FIFA Award.

The Real Madrid and Croatia midfielder was instrumental in his team’s success this year. He was a key player in Real Madrid winning three consecutive UEFA Champions League. In addition, he was the motor behind the success of Croatia reaching the finals in this year’s World Cup in Russia.

Modric beat out former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, who won the Puskás award.

Ronaldo netted 44 goals in all competitions while Salah scored in 53 occasions for Liverpool.

However, their accomplishments were not enough to beat Croatia’s hero, Luka.
