Wolves Hold Man City To Draw

Manchester City will be ruing missed chances as they hit the bar thrice and a contentious goal was awarded to Wolves.

Frustration took over Pep Guardiola’s men with the result. Both Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling hitting the woodwork with the former having hit it again in the 95th minute.

Wolves took the lead in hugely controversial fashion, Willy Boly turning home from close range with his arm.

Laporte capitalized on poor defending to head in Ilkay Gundogan’s free-kick, keeping the unbeaten run intact.

Both teams started the game well, Gundogan could have given City the lead but failed to convert a well-worked move.

Jimenez strayed offside as he converted Diogo Jota’s cross after Vincent Kompany had carelessly conceded possession.

City’s response was super but were unlucky as Aguero hit the woodwork after a deflected cross. 73 time capped goalkeeper Rui Patricio proved why he was such a steal as a free transfer after a heroic save to deny Sterling’s Half-Volley.

Wolves On Attack

Fernandinho then dragged wide and Jimenez flashed across goal at the other end. Patricio got a hand on a wonderful Benjamin Mendy cross as City continued to threaten, the Portugal international alert to keep out Aguero’s tame follow-up.

Smart goalkeeping from Ederson prevented Helder Costa from breaking the deadlock. However, from the subsequent corner, Boly dove in at the far post to turn Joao Moutinho’s cross into the back of the net with his right arm.

David Silva was furious as referee Martin Atkinson did not point towards the penalty spot after being pushed to the ground by Ruben Neves.

City finally scored the equalizer through Aymeric Laporte, who powered in from Gundogan’s dinked cross.

Manchester City expects to get back to winning ways when Newcastle United visit the Etihad Stadium next Saturday. Wolves travel to Sheffield Wednesday in the second round of the EFL Cup before facing West Ham at London Stadium.
