Madrid Loan Odegaard To Vitesse
Real Madrid have sent Martin Odegaard to Vitesse Arnhem on a season long loan. According to the club’s website, the 19 year old will join the Dutch club until June 2019 after failing to break into the teams packed midfield.
Odegaard also spent last season in the Netherlands with SC Heerenveen where he eventually became a starter. The Norwegian teenager scored 3 goals in 38 appearances before returning to the Spanish capital.
According to GOAL, Odegaard expressed his admiration for Vitesse when speaking of the new loan agreement. “I got to know Vitesse as a good footballing team, with an offensive and dominant view of the game. I think that way of playing is good for me.” said the midfielder.
Odegaard became the youngest player to play for Norway at 15 years of age in 2014. A year later he signed for Real Madrid, playing for Real Madrid Castilla under then manager Zinedine Zidane.
Likewise, he became the youngest player to debut for ‘Los Blancos’, coming on for Cristiano Ronaldo in a home win against Getafe in 2015. Odegaard will look to continue developing for another year in the familiar Dutch Eredivisie expecting to increase his goal tally as a result.
