Zion Williamson Is Listed At A Whopping 285 Pounds By Duke

The Duke Blue Devils listed Zion Williamson at 6’7″ 285 Lbs. That is insane for somebody of that height. For someone who’s game is so dependent on their athleticism this doesn’t make a lot of sense for me.

This weight would make him the second heaviest player in the NBA and he is only 6’7″. There are tons of guy that are way taller than he is. Boban is Eight inches taller and only five pounds heavier. There’s no way Zion can come in and dominate at that weight.

Why Is This Bad?

Zion Williamson is a guy who’s so good mostly because he is more athletic than his opponents. He has the ability to dunk on anybody at any time.

In this video, he looks nowhere near 285. He’s probably like 260 or 265. He looks like he should in this video. So if he really has put on 20 pounds or so since then there’s reason to be worried.

If he is that much heavier than everybody then that just takes away his advantage. He’s so athletic it won’t matter against some guys but it will matter against the elite power forwards he will have to face.

Duke has to be able to rely on Williamson next season. If he isn’t able to run up and down the court and getting above the rim to finish off of lobs at an elite level that he isn’t gonna be as useful.

He isn’t much of a jump shooter at all so he won’t be asked to stretch the floor at all. If he can improve that even a little bit, that would be huge for him and his team.

Another thing is that many people question whether he is actually 6’7″ in shoes. Some think that is a very generous listing. Many feel that he is more like 6’6″ which can make a big difference in regards to his NBA outlook.
