Michael Beasley Agrees To One Year Deal With The Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers have signed free agent forward Michael Beasley to a one-year, $3.5 million deal. Last season with the New York Knicks, he had his best season since his third year in the league as a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves. He averaged 13.2 points and 5.6 rebounds while averaging 22 minutes a game.

After landing LeBron James, the Lakers also signed Rajon Rondo, JaVale McGee, and Lance Stephenson. They’ve added tough minded veterans to their bench who are tough and will help the Lakers young core.

What He Brings To The Lakers

Beasley is a decent scorer and not bad for the Lakers to have at that price to come off the bench. He will be a key piece when the Lakers are basically playing small ball. With his versatility, he can play the small forward or power forward positions and create mismatches depending on the opponent.

Bouncing Back

James and Beasley played one season together with the Miami Heat, which was the 2013-14 season. After a few run ins with marijuana uses, Beasley is ready for a fresh start. Drafted at number two after Derrick Rose in 2008, Beasley shown he could be a potential star.

He’s bounced around the NBA, getting a third chance in Miami, and played in China in which he was pretty successful. Despite his upside and potential, he’s never played more than two consecutive seasons with the same team. Hopefully this is the team he can call home.

The Lakers have a group of up and coming young players surrounding James. Those veterans they’ve signed so far will be vital to their success. It will be very interesting to see how all of the pieces fit well with each other.
