The pressure is off France despite their narrow wins over Australia and Peru. However, Denmark seeks to secure a spot in the Round of 16 with a draw or win over France. In any case, Les Bleus seeks to avoid Croatia in the Round of 16 and much rather face Argentina, Nigeria or Iceland.

Denmark, on the contrary, are seeking a Round of 16 appearances since 2002. Their hopes lie solely on Spurs midfield Christian Eriksen’s talent. Eriksen created their winner against Peru before scoring in the 1-1 draw with Australia.

Denmark and France have met twice in World Cup history when they have split wins for each side. France won 2-1 in 1998 and Denmark won 2-0 in 2002. However, this would be the sixth meeting in major tournament after Euro 1984, Euro 1992, World Cup 1998, Euro 2000 and World Cup 2002. France won three of the five previous matches. In addition, Denmark have lost four of their last five World Cup games against fellow European nations, which the exception of the win against France in 2002.

Prediction:

Despite trying to avoid Croatia in the Round of 16, Denmark still has a better chance of advancing without difficulties. A draw will benefit both sides and its likely that they both will agreed to do so.
