World Cup 2018: Brazil vs Costa Rica Preview

Brazil and Costa Rica are both looking for their first win in this World Cup edition. Unfortunately for Costa Rica, they have yet to score a point while Brazil insured a draw against Switzerland. From one hand, Neymar’s health was a question mark for Brazil. On the other side, Costar Rica has a lot of turmoil among their squad citing jealousy and personal  situations.

Although Costa Rica played well against Serbia, they only managed to fire 10 shots on goal while possessing the ball for 50 percent of the time. Despite this, the Serbs found a way to hang to the tough 1-0 victory. In order to keep their hopes alive in this tournament, they will need to at least look for draw against La Verde-Amarela.

For Brazil, history tells us that they should breeze through the CONCACAF team. The five-time champions are unbeaten in their last 13 World Cup group games, winning 10 of them. In addition, Brazil has won nine of its past 10 international matches against Costa Rica.

Controversy:

The Brazilian FA made an official complaint to FIFA after the Switzerland match over the failure of VAR to review certain decisions, including the buildup to the Swiss equalizer. On Wednesday it conceded this complaint had been rejected.

Costa Rica on the other side are said to not be happy with Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas. The 31-year-old is said to have distant himself from the rest of the team. Navas is well aware that Florentino Perez is looking for his replacement in this World Cup.

Prediction: Brazil 3 – 0 Costa Rica
