World Cup 2018: Nigeria vs Iceland Preview

Perhaps the biggest match that Argentinians will be attentive to in this World Cup as their World Cup hopes lie on Iceland and Nigeria’s result. However, Iceland could take a major step towards the qualification if they beat Nigeria. A draw may still keep them in the fight but will give Argentina hope for one last match and they would have to seek a win against Croatia. Nevertheless, the Nigerian Super Eagles are looking for their first win in this tournament after their dreadful start against Croatia.

However, both teams come to the match at full health and with no suspensions. The Nigerians have lost four of their last five matches heading into the World Cup. Their struggles are not of recent but have been struggle of late. They are the youngest team in the World Cup but in front they will have Iceland. The Icelanders are in the midst of a golden age as they are considered underdogs in each match but have overcame each obstacle. However, that label may shed after the latest results they have conquered.

Heimir Hallgrimsson’s side are in with a decent chance of qualifying for the Round of 16. However, they will have to cement a win against Nigeria. A Nigerian team that has only managed to win one of their last 13 matches at the FIFA World Cup (W1-D3-L9), a 1-0 win against Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2014.
