Bojan Krkić Joins MLS Montreal Impact

Former Barcelona star Bojan Krkić will see out his football career in the MLS with the Montreal Impact.

He joins the Canadian side on a free transfer and on a contract that will keep him in Montreal until December 2020.

After five years with Stoke City, the 28-year-old and club came to an agreement to have the player leave the English side.

Bojan started his career with Barcelona in 2006. He later joined the main roster and was part of the treble-winning side in 2009 under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola.

Additionally, he was part of the Blaugrana side that saw yet another Champions win in 2011.

He later moved to Roma, where he had a short spell with Milan. In 2014, he returned to Camp Nou to be loaned to Ajax, where he won the Eredivisie title.

He’s been with Stoke for the past five seasons, but has been loaned out to German side Mainz and Alaves in La Liga.

Perhaps one of Bojan’s biggest defeat was the comparison made with Lionel Messi.

While with Barcelona’s youth teams and was labelled the ‘new Messi’ after scoring 900 goals.

Bojan has amassed 84 goals in 392 games in all leagues. In 2018-2019, he scored just one goal in 23 games with Stoke City FC.

The Barcelona product joins Montreal as a possible backup/replacement for veteran Nacho Piatti.
