Rodri Wants Out Of Atletico De Madrid
Rodri has told Atletico de Madrid that he wants to leave the club this summer.
The midfielder has been a Manchester City and Bayern Munich target.
Additionally, both clubs are willing to pay Rodri’s buyout clause. His contract is set to run until 2023 with the Rojiblancos.
In addition, La Ser indicates that Rodri’s destination this summer will “almost certainly” be Manchester City, despite Bayern Munich’s attempts to sign him.
It is said that Pep Guardiola has convinced the player by reassuring him that he will be a key player in his project for the present and future.
City expects to pay €70m release clause for Rodri. There were rumors that aside from Bayern, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United made attempts to signing the player as well.
The 22-year-old will join João Cancelo and Angeliño who will presented at Manchester City at the end of the month.
Rodri’s numbers last season had him with 91% pass accuracy, 3.4 long balls, 3 tackles won, 2.3 aerials won, 1.3 fouls suffered, and 1.2 interceptions per game.
In addition to being a great distributor, Rodri stands out for the way he positions himself on the pitch and his tactical awareness.
Rodri joined Atleti from Villarreal in a deal worth initial €20m plus a further €5m in add-ons.
The Madrid-native has also won five international caps for Spain in the last calendar year.
Many are praising Rodri as substitute for Sergio Busquets in the Spanish national team and Fernandinho at City.
Fernandinho is in his last year of his contract and at 34-years-old an exit is likely possible this summer or winter.
