No Salah Or Firmino Against Barcelona
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino will miss the second leg of the Reds semifinal against Barcelona.
The Reds are to receive the Catalan side at Anfield this upcoming Tuesday. Additionally, the Merseyside team needs a miracle to come back from a 3-0 defeat in Spain.
The Egyptian was left motionless following a collision with Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.
Though Klopp was very optimistic at first, he knew it was a stretch to have him ready for Tuesday.
“It’s a concussion so it’s a case of him not even being allowed to play,” Klopp said.
“He feels OK but it’s not good enough from a medical point view, that’s all.”
A trio of forwards it is no more and the German strategist will now have to seek deep into his squad for replacements for two his strongest weapons.
“There’s hope and that’s football,” he added.
“We are far away from giving up.
“Two of the world’s best strikers are not available tomorrow – it doesn’t make life any easier but while we have 11 players on the pitch we will try.”
