Elimination Chamber 2019 Final Results and Grades

We just sped past our first stop on the road to WrestleManiaElimination Chamber 2019 sees titles change hands, two inaugural champions rise, and an eleven year odyssey finally receiving the recognition it deserves. There is also a few downsides, but we’ll get to that soon.

(PRE-SHOW) WWE Cruiserweight Championship: Buddy Murphy def. Akira Tozawa

Final Grade: B

With the small card, this really should’ve been part of the main show. Murphy and Tozawa put on a fast paced, high flying match. Tozawa hits a few dives to the outside of the ring. Murphy brings the hard hitting offense only he can in the cruiserweight division.

Murphy flips the Octopus Stretch into the Murphy’s Law to successfully retain his title.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Tag Team Elimination Chamber: The Boss N’ Hug Connection def. Tamina & Nia Jax, The IIconics, The Riott Squad, Sonya Deville & Mandy Rose, and Carmella & Naomi to become the inaugural champions

Final Grade: B

With all the hype behind it in the world, this match gave about 50% back. Most of the match seems slow paced and at times most of the wrestlers look lost or unsure about what to do.

The IIconics hit a pretty interesting double leverage pin to eliminate Naomi and Carmella. Sasha naps in one of the pods for about twenty or so minutes. Nia attempts to tackle Bayley into a pod, but Bayley jumps out of the way at the last second and sends Nia into the pod. Everyone takes turns hitting their finishes then dog pile on Tamina to eliminate her.

The finish comes with Sasha making Sonya tap with a modified version of the Bank Statement to secure the final fall. Congratulations are in order for both Sasha and Bayley; They obviously care about this moment very much.

SmackDown Tag Team Championships: The Usos def. McMiz to win the titles

Final Grade: B-

The best tag team in the world has fallen. What will happen next?

Shane hits a Leap of Faith from the top rope and actually hits it correctly. He tries a second Coast-to-Coast on Jey Uso, but Uso gets up and Superkicks Shane before he can make the jump.

Jimmy gets the win with a roll-up, ending his crummy weekend with a high moment.

WWE Intercontinental Championship 2-on-1 Handicap: Finn Balor def. Bobby Lashley & Lio Rush to win the title

Final Grade: C+

Well, it’s about frieakin’ time they give Finn a title!

Balor hits the Coup de Grace on Rush for the win. Nothing too exciting happens, but it’s definitely not a bad match.

RAW Women’s Championship: Ronda Rousey def. Ruby Riott

Final Grade: F

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results every time.

Ruby gets embarrassed here, which is fine because it’s used to put Ronda over. (That’s sarcasm, for those of you who don’t know)

Does the post match beat down from Becky to both Charlotte and Ronda help this grade? No.

No Disqualifications: Baron Corbin def. Braun Strowman

Final Grade: C+

Braun beats down Corbin and sends him through a table. Just before he goes for a pin, Drew McIntyre and Bobby Lashley run out and aid Corbin in turning the tables on Braun. Triple Powerbomb from the top of steel steps through two tables ends the match.

WWE Championship Elimination Chamber: Daniel Bryan def. Kofi Kingston, AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Randy Orton, and Jeff Hardy to retain the title

Match of the Night

Moment of the Night: Hardy hits a Swanton Bomb on Styles while AJ is draped over the turnbuckle

Final Grade: A+

Kofi Kingston will be WWE Champion at WrestleMania. Why do I say that? Watch this match back and tell me he doesn’t deserve another shot.

High octane action that doesn’t stop once it picks up. Joe is surprisingly the first person eliminated. Randy hits a few RKO’s out of nowhere. Kofi looks to have the title won a few times towards the end, but Bryan hits one more Running Knee to keep his title.

Kofi Kingston will be WWE Champion at the end of WrestleMania 35; He is amazing, and he deserves a title rung after eleven long years with WWE.

Overall Elimination Chamber 2019 Final Grade: C+

This card didn’t have a lot of Match of the Year candidates, but it still has its moments. Sasha and Bayley get their moment in the sun, Finn finally wins a title again, The Usos put on a pretty good performance, and Kofi Kingston solidifies why he deserves to be a world champion one day.
