Liverpool hosts Leicester City at Anfield with the opportunity to create a seven-point gap between them and Manchester City.

Manchester City took a devastating 2-1 loss at the hands of Newcastle at St. James’ Park. This now opened the door for Liverpool to take a leap further into their Premier League aspirations.

Meanwhile, Leceister City have sprung a shock or two so far this season and will look to do the same at Anfield.

Views From Both Camps

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp:

“Leicester like playing against the top sides. They are not a massive counter-attacking side like they have been in the past but it’s still a threat. They don’t give you lots of space.

“We expect a very dangerous opponent. They have quality and are a super team. I am sure they are not happy with their position. They have invested a lot of money in the team. They’d have been happy with their position a few years ago but not after winning the league and playing in the Champions League.”

Additionally, Liverpool will be without suspended James Milner. Alex Oxlade Chamberlina remains doubtful for this matchup.

Leicester City manager Claude Puel recent inactivity:

“It was a possibility to rest and to change our ideas, to come back to training with intensity, quality and focus.

“It’s a good thing for these players, for the team, but we need to move on, to look forward, and now we have a fantastic challenge in these games.”

Meanwhile, the Foxes will have available their strongest lineup. Their only concern Daniel Amartey who will miss the encounter.

Possible Lineup

Liverpool XI: Alisson; Fabinho, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Wijnaldum; Mane, Firmino, Keita; Salah.

Leicester City XI: Schmeichel; Ricardo, Morgan, Maguire, Chilwell; Ndidi, Mendy; Albrighton, Maddison, Gray; Vardy.

Prediction

Liverpool’s hope to reach their first Premier League in 29 years are intact. The Foxes present themselves as the only obstacle in Liverpool’s way though there is a long way to go in the season still. Nevertheless, being able to gain ground at home would make things easier for the Reds come crunch in the spring.
