Serie A
Krzysztof Piatek To Join AC Milan
Krzysztof Piatek has enjoyed a meteoric rise this Serie A season. The 23-year-old number 9 has been in sensational form. His goalscoring exploits have made him a talking point on the global footballing scenario. His market value has thus skyrocketed and he has been linked to numerous big clubs including the likes of Barcelona. However, the Polish marksman is now off the market. AC Milan have swooped in and made the most of the January transfer window by agreeing to bring Piatek in from Genoa.
With the departure of Gonzalo Higuain to Chelsea confirmed, Milan were on the lookout for a new striker. With Piatek they have found pretty much exactly what they needed.
Details of the Deal
According to trusted source Fabrizio Romano, the agreement between Genoa and AC Milan has been completed. AC Milan will pay Genoa a fee of 35 million euros to acquire Piatek’s services. The contract duration is reportedly 5 years. No other players are involved in the deal. However, the other minute details like additional clauses/incentives etc (if any) have not been disclosed yet.
Terrific Signing for AC Milan
Since Higuain’s move to Chelsea is imminent, Milan needed a capable replacement for the Argentine. Now they do indeed have loads of attacking talent but they need an out-and-out target man. Piatek checks all the boxes in that regard. He stands tall at 183 centimeters, is very strong and can hold the ball up excellently. He can not only create chances but also score in the most difficult of situations. Piatek is also effective in tight spaces. Not only does he have all these attributes but he is also very young. This means Milan have potentially found a long term striker solution for their first team.
Krzysztof Piatek in Serie A this season has played 19 games for Genoa. He has started 18 of them and he is also second on the goalscoring charts with 13 goals. Piatek has already turned heads this campaign with his impressive performances. If he continues this form he will certainly be one to watch out for.
