The Maryland Terrapins have been sensational in their last seven games. However, they are now faced with a Michigan State side that has emerged as one of the hottest teams in the nation.

Nevertheless, Maryland now faces perhaps their toughest task after falling to the Virginia Cavaliers in late November.

Meanwhile, the Spartans come to this game having won 11 straight games and 16 of their last 17. Their last loss came at the hands of Louisville back in November.

Terps vs Spartans

Maryland is seeking the first place of the Big Ten conference. However, they will have to upset Michigan State at the Breslin Center to reach that milestone.

The Terps have won three straight road games after finding their groove since their last loss to Seton Hall.

Meanwhile, the 6th-ranked Spartans jumped into sole possession of first place in the Big Ten after Michigan took an upset loss against Wisconsin this past Saturday.

For Maryland, Anthony Cowan Jr. and Bruno Fernando continue to lead the team in points scored per game, notching several double-doubles this season.

The Spartans, however, are led by junior Cassius Winston, who averages a team-best 18.2 points per game.

Mark Turgeon may consider guarding Winston with his best defensive stopper, Darryl Morsell who has been spectacular this season.

Prediction

Vegas is considering Turgeon’s side an underdog by 9.5 points against Tom Izzo’s side. The record favors Michigan State as they have five out of their last eight games since joining the Big Ten Conference. However, to the Terps’ favor, the Spartans will be short-handed without Joshua Langford and Kyle Ahrens due to injuries. Nevertheless, Izzo’s team is much more experience than the Terps are in this kind of matchups and have a well-better edge over them.
