As college football seasons come to an end, it always makes the fans sad. However, now it’s time to prepare for new recruits, and most of hiring of new coaching staff. West Virginia is set to hire new coach.
West Virigina Set to Hire New Coach
After the conclusion of the bowl game loss to Syracuse, Dana Holgorsen has resigned from WVU to take the coaching job at the University of Houston. Where will this leave the Mountaineers?
Reports are showing that Troy’s head coach Neal Brown will be the new Mountaineers head coach.
As the coach of Troy since 2015, Brown had a winning record of 35-6, and that also includes three straight bowl game wins from 2016-2018; and going 11-2 during the 2017 season.
Neal Brown is one of the six coaches who have 10 or more wins in each of the last three seasons. The other 5 coaches are Nick Saban from Alabama, Dabo Swinney from Clemson, Urban Meyer from Ohio State, Chris Petersen from Washington, and Bryan Harsin from Boise State.
Brown has also previously served as the offensive coordinator for Texas Tech from 2010-2012, and Kentucky from 2013-2014; and of course his coaching at Troy.
What’s Next for West Virginia?
West Virginia finished 2018 with a 8-4 record and ended the the season with a 34-18 loss to Syracuse in the Camping World Bowl.
This will be Neal Brown’s first “BIG TIME” college coaching job in his career. He will have his hands full competing with other Big 12 teams such as Oklahoma and Texas.
What is in store for the West Virginia Mountaineers with a new head coach? Will Neal Brown be able to take the Mountaineers to a better winning season in 2019?
Stay tune to Mountaineer football coming soon in 2019, to see how well the new coach will work out!
