Premier League
Everton vs Leicester Preview
Goodison Park, Liverpool – Leicester City travel to Goodison Park to meet Marco Silva’s Everton in Tuesday’s round of Premier League fixtures.
The hosts currently find themselves tenth in the league table and will be keen to bounce back from a disappointing 1-0 defeat at the hands of Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.
As for Leicester City, they have recently endured one of the most varied runs of form we have seen this season. After victories over both Chelsea and Manchester City, they lost 1-0 to a Cardiff City side who are currently in the midst of a relegation battle.
Previous Encounters:
- Everton have won four of their last five league matches against Leicester (L1); as many as they had won in their first 20 Premier League meetings before this (W4 D13 L3).
- The Toffees have earned all three points in the reverse fixture, a 2-1 victory over Leicester in October.
- Leicester have only won one of their 12 previous visits to Goodison Park in the Premier League (D7 L4), triumphing 3-2 in December 2015 during their title-winning campaign.
Team News:
Richarlison is expected to be fit for the visit of Leicester City. The Everton forward suffered a knock during Saturday’s defeat at Brighton.
Having missed the last three games due to an ankle injury, Ademola Lookman is back in contention.
Leicester will assess defenders Jonny Evans and Wes Morgan ahead of the trip to Merseyside. The pair missed the 1-0 defeat to Cardiff due to illness.
Hamza Choudhury was rested on Saturday and is expected to return to the squad at Goodison Park. Daniel Amartey (broken ankle) and Matty James (Achilles) remain out.
Predicted Lineups:
Everton (5-4-1): Pickford; Coleman, Keane, Mina, Zouma, Digne; Bernard, Gomes, Sigurdsson, Richarlison; Calvert-Lewin.
Leicester (4-3-3): Schmeichel; Pereira, Morgan, Maguire, Chilwell; Ndidi, Mendy, Choudhury; Maddison, Albrighton, Vardy.
Match Prediction:
Just a single point separates the two sides in the league table, with both having scored just one more goal than they have conceded all season.
Neither side can boast an impeccable run of form, but we have seen that both have the capacity to play some breathtaking football if everything goes to plan.
Leicester have shown signs of fatigue in recent weeks, but the Foxes are often at their best with their backs against the wall. It is certainly tough to separate these two sides, and that could be reflected in the scoreline on Tuesday.
Prediction: Everton 1-1 Leicester
