Nets Win Back-to-Back Games

The Brooklyn Nets played a great game for three quarters against the New York Knicks but almost blew it. This is more of the same of how it’s been all year for the Nets.

The Nets defeated the Knicks 112-104 on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden. The Nets are on a mini-roll. They snapped an eight-game losing streak against the Toronto Raptors on Friday night, and they finally snapped a 12-game losing streak in the second night of back-to-backs.

Nets vs Knicks: First Half

The Nets led the Knicks 56-45 at halftime, jumping on top with an 11-2 run to close the first quarter. With just over two minutes into the second quarter, D’Angelo Russell gave the Nets their first double digit lead 36-26 with a running floater.

New York eventually closed the gap to 43-39, but the Nets went on a 11-1 run. Allen Crabbe, Joe Harris, and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson all knocked down threes to help extend the lead. After Mario Hezonja’s free throw, Jarrett Allen put back a rebound to give Brooklyn its biggest lead of the first half, 56-41.

After being up 11 at the half, the Nets extended their lead in the middle of the third quarter. The Knicks were trailing 69-52 with back-to-back 3-pointers from Crabbe made it a 75-57 game with 6:33 to go in the quarter.

Nets vs Knicks: Second Half

Damyeaon Dotson began to light it up with his shooting to help the Knicks stick around. Spencer Dinwiddie began to attack the rim for the Nets to regain momentum on their home floor.

The Knicks still didn’t give up despite the offense for the Nets lighting it up along with the hometown crowd. New York closed the gap to five with a 15-3 run, bringing them within 101-96 with 5:38 to go. But Hollis-Jefferson roared down the lane on a cut to score off a pass from Russell. Russell then later got another assist off a Crabbe three pointer, pushing the lead to 106-96 with 4:32 to go.

The Nets had five players in double figures last night while shooting 48.9 percent overall and 50 percent from 3-point range.

Dinwiddie led Brooklyn with 25 points and  six assists, and Hollis-Jefferson had 20 points and six rebounds. Allen posted a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Crabbe had 17 points, making all five of his 3-point attempts. Russell had 11 assists and Ed Davis grabbed eight rebounds.

Player of the game: Spencer Dinwiddie
