College Basketball
College Hoops Schedule: Tuesday, Nov. 27th, 2018
Ranked Game(s)
‘Ranked Games’ feature schools that find themselves within the Associated Press (AP) Top 25 Rankings, regardless of who their opponent is.
#13 Virginia Tech Hokies (5-0) @ Penn State Nittany Lions (3-2)
Time: 7 p.m. (est)
Location: University Park, Pennsylvania, USA @ the Bryce Jordan Center
Network: ESPN2
Game Note: The Hokies could be ranked higher, as they have been nothing short of impressive. The Hokies have passed every early season test, which includes solid wins over Ball State and Purdue. The schedule for Virginia Tech is pretty simple until conference play begins in January, as they will also have a full roster ready to go.
#9 Michigan State Spartans (5-1) @ Louisville Cardinals (3-2)
Time: 7:30 p.m. (est)
Location: Louisville, Kentucky, USA @ the KFC Yum! Center
Network: ESPN
Game Note: Despite an early season loss to Kansas, the Spartans look like solid contenders for a National Championship. The Spartans outscored opponents by over 100 points in the three games following their Kansas loss, before defeating UCLA and Texas by double-digit totals each. Louisville is trending in an opposite direction, falling in their last two games to Tennessee and Marquette.

#5 Nevada Wolfpack (6-0) @ Loyola-Chicago Ramblers (4-2)
Time: 8 p.m. (est)
Location: Chicago, Illinois, USA @ the Joseph J. Gentile Center
Network: ESPNNEWS
Game Note: Despite appearing in last year’s Final Four, the Ramblers are a long shot to repeat. They will serve as a formidable opponent for a Nevada team yet to be tested this season, although this game begins a tough stretch where Nevada’s ‘legit’ status will be tested fully. After Loyola-Chicago the Wolfpack face Southern Cal, Arizona State, Grand Canyon, South Dakota State, Akron, and Utah before jumping into conference play.
Pittsburgh Panthers (6-0) @ #14 Iowa Hawkeyes (5-0)
Time: 9 p.m. (est)
Location: Iowa City, Iowa, USA @ the Carver-Hawkeye Arena
Network: ESPNU
Game Note: Perhaps the most overlooked game on the slate will see two teams surpassing early season expectations. The Panthers are already two wins away from matching their win total from a season ago, while Iowa surprisingly handled both Oregon and UConn with ease. The Panthers’ athleticism against Iowa’s rebounding and three-point shooting will be fun to watch.
North Carolina State Wolfpack (6-0) @ #22 Wisconsin Badgers (5-1)
Time: 9 p.m. (est)
Location: Madison, Wisconsin, USA @ the Kohl Center
Network: ESPN2
Indiana Hoosiers (5-1) @ #3 Duke Blue Devils (5-1)
Time: 9:30 p.m. (est)
Location: Durham, North Carolina, USA @ the Cameron Indoor Stadium
Network: ESPN
Game Note: It’s not surprising to see Duke remain in the top three despite a loss to Gonzaga. The Blue Devils may actually become more dangerous as a result. The Blue Devils are very young, but also very talented. Losing early is actually going to pay dividends come March for a team whose only weakness is lack of experience. The more experience Duke has losing close games to good teams, the better they’ll be when it matters in the tournament.
Non-ranked DI Games
‘Non-ranked DI Games’ feature schools that are outside of the AP Top 25, but both teams are DI schools.
Hartford Hawks (2-5) @ Sacred Heart Pioneers (2-4)
Time: 6 p.m. (est)
Location: Fairfield, Connecticut, USA @ the William H. Pitt Center
Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawks (1-5) @ St. John’s Red Storm (5-0)
Time: 6:30 p.m. (est)
Location: Queens, New York, USA @ the Carnesecca Arena
Network: FS1
Game Note: St. John’s is quietly having an impressive season thus far, with their only real set back in a close game against California. They survived an overtime scare against Virginia Commonwealth, who has surprised many in their own rights. St. John’s has fought and overcome adversity to begin the season. If the Red Storm continue to average over 80 points a game while limiting opponents to around 70 or fewer, they will find much success this season.
Illinois Fighting Illini (2-4) @ Notre Dame Fighting Irish (5-1)
Time: 7 p.m. (est)
Location: South Bend, Indiana, USA @ the Purcell Pavilion
Network: ESPNU
Game Note: Despite a 2-4 record, Illinois is a solid team. They will travel to a young Notre Dame squad, still learning how to play with one another. It will be interesting to see how both teams respond in this game, as this may become a pivotal game when determining bubble teams in March.
Two of the top 20 all-time winningest teams in college basketball history meet on Tuesday in the #ACCB1G Challenge when the #Illini (1,780 wins, 16th) travel to Notre Dame (1,871 victories, 8th).

Western Carolina Catamounts (2-5) @ Wake Forest Demon Deacons (3-2)
Time: 7 p.m. (est)
Location: Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA @ the Lawrence Joel Coliseum
Network: ACC Network
Game Note: Wake Forest is in a bit of a funk, which is a generous way to put it. The Demon Deacons barely survived games against Cal State Fullerton and Valparaiso before falling short to Houston Baptist in overtime. The Danny Manning era may be coming to an end this season, as Manning is now entering his fifth season with the program. In that time, Manning sits at about 20 games under .500 with this season looking no different than past results. It’s unfortunate to say, but this is probably going to be Manning’s final season unless things turn around quickly.
Kennesaw State Owls (1-6) @ Georgia Bulldogs (3-3)
Time: 7 p.m. (est)
Location: Athens, Georgia, USA @ the Stegeman Coliseum
Network: SEC Network+
North Florida Ospreys (2-4) @ Florida Gators (3-3)
Time: 7 p.m. (est)
Location: Gainesville, Florida, USA @ the Exatech Arena
Network: SEC Network
East Carolina Pirates (4-3) @ North Carolina-Wilmington Seahawks (3-4)
Time: 7 p.m. (est)
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina, USA @ the Trask Coliseum
Massachusetts-Lowell River Hawks (4-4) @ Connecticut Huskies (5-1)
Time: 7 p.m. (est)
Location: Storrs, Connecticut, USA @ the Gampel Pavilion
Network: ESPN3
Charlotte 49ers (2-2) @ Davidson Wildcats (5-1)
Time: 7 p.m. (est)
Location: Davidson, North Carolina, USA @ the John M. Belk Arena
Network: ESPN+
Game Note: Davidson seems to be the early favorite for an A-10 title, although other schools such as Dayton seem eager for the challenge. The Wildcats come off back-to-back wins over Northeastern, and now turn to an inter-state game against Charlotte. The 49ers are a tough team to read, only scoring 42 points in a win over Longwood while also rallying from 18 down to beat Oklahoma State. Subsequently, they have head-scratching losses to both Chattanooga and James Madison.
Iona Gaels (2-3) @ Ohio Bobcats (3-2)
Time: 7 p.m. (est)
Location: Athens, Ohio, USA @ the Convocation Center
Network: ESPN+
Stony Brook Seawolves (5-1) @ Norfolk State Spartans (3-4)
Time: 7 p.m. (est)
Location: Norfolk, Virginia, USA @ the Echols Hall
American Eagles (3-1) @ Virginia Military Institute Keydets (5-2)
Time: 7 p.m. (est)
Location: Lexington, Virginia, USA @ the Cameron Hall
Network: ESPN3
Game Note: Both teams enter this game with surprisingly good records. Most military schools such as VMI have the conditioning advantage. Both teams are on a current two-game winning streak while playing solid ‘power five’ schools in tight contests. American’s only loss was a 12 point defeat to Northwestern, while one of VMI’s losses came at the hands of Kentucky by only 10 points.

East Tennessee State Buccaneers (5-2) @ Georgia Southern Eagles (5-0)
Time: 7 p.m. (est)
Location: Statesboro, Georgia, USA @ the W.S. Hanner Fieldhouse
Network: ESPN+
Game Note: Familiar foes battle in a huge mid-major matchup. Before joining DI in football, Georgia Southern resided in the SoCon – which is where the Buccaneers do battle. These two teams are very familiar with one another, and now they look to further their already impressive seasons with a victory.
High Point Panthers (3-3) @ The Citadel Bulldogs (4-2)
Time: 7 p.m. (est)
Location: Charleston, South Carolina, USA @ the McAlister Field House
Network: ESPN+
Game Note: Both teams enter with a ton of momentum, better than advertised. Tubby Smith seems to have his Panthers playing at a high level, just six games into his tenure. The Panthers have looked good even in defeat, while The Citadel just took out South Florida on the road. The Bulldogs have now won two tightly contested games, going back to the previous theory of military schools performing well late in games due to conditioning advantages.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions (2-4) @ Cincinnati Bearcats (5-1)
Time: 7 p.m. (est)
Location: Cincinnati, Ohio, USA @ the Fifth Third Arena
Network: ESPN3
Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks (2-3) @ Northwestern State Demons (2-4)
Time: 7:30 p.m. (est)
Location: Natchitoches, Louisiana, USA @ the Prather Coliseum
Pennsylvania Quakers (5-2) @ Delaware State Hornets (1-5)
Time: 7:30 p.m. (est)
Location: Dover, Delaware, USA @ the Memorial Hall
Northern Kentucky Norse (6-1) @ Morehead State Eagles (2-4)
Time: 7:35 p.m. (est)
Location: Morehead, Kentucky, USA @ the Ellis T. Johnson Arena
Network: ESPN+
Game Note: Despite a 6-1 record, the Norse have had to fight and claw for it. Nothing has come easy for the Norse, which could be viewed as good news. With so many close games in such a short amount of time, any win is a good win for Northern Kentucky. With Wright State seemingly taking a step back, the Horizon League is NKU’s for the taking. However, if the Norse continue to play in close games all season long, their clear path to a Horizon League title may be bumpier than expected.
Savannah State Tigers (3-5) @ Vanderbilt Commodores (4-1)
Time: 8 p.m. (est)
Location: Nashville, Tennessee, USA @ the Memorial Gymnasium
Network: ESPN+
Charleston Southern Buccaneers (4-2) @ Marquette Golden Eagles (4-2)
Time: 8 p.m. (est)
Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA @ the Fiserv Forum
South Dakota Coyotes (3-2) @ Baylor Bears (4-2)
Time: 8 p.m. (est)
Location: Waco, Texas, USA @ the Ferrell Center
Game Note: Baylor has seen a great improvement since dropping their first game to Texas Southern. Despite a close loss to Ole Miss, Baylor does seem to be improving each game. Their wins haven’t been against any good opponents though, so this team has much to test before entering conference play.
North Texas Mean Green (8-0) @ Oklahoma Sooners (5-1)
Time: 8 p.m. (est)
Location: Norman, Oklahoma, USA @ the Lloyd Noble Center
Game Note: Here we go. This is the game that will determine how legit North Texas is. They enter a tough environment against a team better than advertised in Oklahoma. North Texas has looked good against solid teams such as Hawaii, but this will be without a doubt their biggest test yet. The Mean Green have been holding opponents to an average point total below 60! If that occurs in this game, expect North Texas to have a shot and possibly win. It’s a shame this isn’t nationally televised.
The Mean Green take on Oklahoma Tuesday at 7 p.m.!

Network: FS1
Temple Owls (5-1) @ Missouri Tigers (3-2)
Time: 9 p.m. (est)
Location: Columbia, Missouri, USA @ the Mizzou Arena
Network: SEC Network
Eastern Washington Eagles (1-3) @ Washington Huskies (4-2)
Time: 9 p.m. (est)
Location: Seattle, Washington, USA @ the Alaska Airlines Arena
Network: Pac-12 Network
North Dakota Fighting Hawks (4-2) @ Montana State Fighting Bobcats (1-6)
Time: 9 p.m. (est)
Location: Bozeman, Montana, USA @ the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse
Southern Illinois Salukis (3-3) @ Colorado State Rams (4-2)
Time: 9 p.m. (est)
Location: Fort Collins, Colorado, USA @ the Moby Arena
Game Note: Both of these teams have decent potential within their own conference, but have been very inconsistent to begin the season. Southern Illinois has actually only had one game that was dumbfounding, losing by 20+ points to Massachusetts. Both teams need to string together impressive wins which are something they can kick start in this matchup.
Jackson State Tigers (1-5) @ San Diego State Aztecs (3-2)
Time: 10:30 p.m. (est)
Location: San Diego, California, USA @ the Viejas Arena
California State Northridge Matadors (1-3) @ Washington State Cougars (3-1)
Time: 11 p.m. (est)
Location: Pullman, Washington, USA @ the Friel Court
Network: Pac-12 Network
Non-DI Opponent Games
Finally, the ‘Non-DI Opponent Games’ feature non-ranked DI schools who are matched up against a school in DII or lower.
Bloomsburg University @ St. Francis-Pennsylvania Red Flash (1-4)
Time: 6 p.m. (est)
Location: Loretto, Pennsylvania, USA @ the DeGol Arena
Wiley @ Southern Tigers (0-4)
Time: 7 p.m. (est)
Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA @ the F.G. Clark Activity Center
Central Pennsylvania @ Elon Phoenix (2-4)
Time: 7 p.m. (est)
Location: Elon, North Carolina, USA @ the Schar Center
Tiffin @ Ball State Cardinals (3-3)
Time: 7 p.m. (est)
Location: Muncie, Indiana, USA @ the Worthen Arena
Network: ESPN+
Game Note: Ball State went through a tough stretch over the holiday week, coming out with a 3-3 overall record. That’s not too shabby, although better performances against a few teams such as Alabama would’ve been nice to see. Consider Ball State still a MAC contender, but there are some doubts now following their Thanksgiving week performances.
Hiwassee @ Chattanooga Mocs (2-5)
Time: 7 p.m. (est)
Location: Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA @ the McKenzie Arena
Network: ESPN3
Brewton-Parker @ Mercer Bears (3-3)
Time: 7 p.m. (est)
Location: Macon, Georgia, USA @ the Hawkins Arena
Network: ESPN3
Greensboro @ North Carolina-Greensboro Spartans (6-1)
Time: 7 p.m. (est)
Location: Greensboro, North Carolina, USA @ the Greensboro Coliseum
Howard Payne @ Abilene Christian Wildcats (6-0)
Time: 7 p.m. (est)
Location: Abilene, Texas, USA @ the Moody Coliseum
Game Note: Don’t look now, but the Wildcats are undefeated. The opponents haven’t exactly been top-notch, but Abilene Christian has blown away unworthy competitors. They have also won tight games against formidable opponents such as Pacific and Denver, so keep your eye on this team especially during conference tournament time.
Cedarville @ Wright State Raiders (3-3)
Time: 7 p.m. (est)
Location: Dayton, Ohio, USA @ the Nutter Center
Network: ESPN+
Missouri S&T @ Southeastern Missouri State (3-3)
Time: 7:30 p.m. (est)

Time: 9 p.m. (est)
Location: Odgen, Utah, USA @ the Dee Events Center
West Coast Baptist @ Idaho Vandals (1-4)
Time: 10 p.m. (est)
Location: Moscow, Idaho, USA @ the Kibbie Dome
