College Basketball
College Hoops Schedule: Monday, Nov. 26th, 2018
Ranked Game(s)
‘Ranked Games’ feature schools that find themselves within the Associated Press (AP) Top 25 Rankings, regardless of who their opponent is.
Nebraska Cornhuskers (5-1) @ #16 Clemson Tigers (5-1)
Time: 7 p.m. (est)
Location: Clemson, South Carolina, USA @ the Littlejohn Coliseum
Network: ESPN2
Game Note: Despite high expectations this season, both schools enter this matchup performing poorly against solid competition. Nebraska’s offense is much more consistent along with a better ability to score points at a fast pace. Also, it would be a bit surprising to see Clemson still ranked after losing their last game to Creighton, their toughest opponent until now.
Alcorn State Braves (1-5) @ #15 Mississippi State Bulldogs (4-1)
Time: 8 p.m. (est)
Location: Starkville, Mississippi, USA @ the Humphrey Coliseum
Network: SEC Network+
Game Note: Mississippi State is another team that may find themselves sitting out of the AP Top 25 next week. The Bulldogs lost a closely contested battle against Arizona State, then squeaked by St. Mary’s. The schedule lightens up for Mississippi State in the coming week, but this team may find themselves in a situation similar to last season.
Eastern Michigan Eagles (4-3) @ #18 Texas Christian Horned Frogs (3-1)
Time: 8 p.m. (est)
Location: Fort Worth, Texas, USA @ the Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena
Game Note: Add Texas Christian to the list of schools unlikely to be ranked, as they suffered a home loss to Lipscomb. Lipscomb is a good team though, and will more than likely reach March Madness this season. However, the early struggles to teams such as Cal State Bakersfield and Fresno State are concerning to this point. Jamie Dixon will more than likely have this team turned around in time. It’s not time to hit panic on TCU, mainly because their schedule lightens up moving forward.
North Dakota State Bisons (2-4) @ #3 Gonzaga Bulldogs (6-0)
Time: 9 p.m. (est)
Location: Spokane, Washington, USA @ the McCarthey Athletic Center
Game Note: It’ll be interesting to see if Gonzaga gets enough votes to jump Kansas in the AP Top 25 as the nation’s top team. It’s certainly warranted, as the Zags look to be the most complete team thus far. They have talent, experience, and depth. What more do you need? The real question will be who can challenge Gonzaga in the conference? Usually, that’s St. Mary’s job but schools such as BYU, San Francisco, San Diego, and Loyola Marymount will test the Zags as well.
Texas Southern Tigers (1-4) @ #21 Oregon Ducks (4-1)
Time: 11 p.m. (est)
Location: Eugene, Oregon, USA @ the Matthew Knight Arena
Network: Pac-12 Network
Non-ranked DI Games
‘Non-ranked DI Games’ feature schools that are outside of the AP Top 25, but both teams are DI schools.
Wofford Terriers (4-2) @ South Carolina Gamecocks (3-2)
Time: 7 p.m. (est)
Location: Columbia, South Carolina, USA @ the Colonial Life Arena
Network: SEC Network+
Game Note: It is very possible that Wofford pulls off the upset here. South Carolina has struggled to begin the season, but they did bounce back nicely in their last win against George Washington. George Washington is far from a polished team though, as the Terriers pose as one of the tougher matchups for South Carolina this early season.
Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (4-2) @ Delaware Blue Hens (4-2)
Time: 7 p.m. (est)
Location: Newark, Delaware, USA @ the Bob Carpenter Center
Game Note: This is an intriguing mid-major matchup, with both schools having some hidden potential this season. Delaware proved they can compete in an early season game against Maryland. Louisiana Tech already beat Wichita State with lockdown defense, while also playing both North Carolina-Greensboro and Louisiana State in tight games.
Stetson Hatters (1-5) @ Bethune-Cookman Wildcats (2-4)
Time: 7 p.m (est)
Location: Daytona Beach, Florida, USA @ the Moore Gymnasium
Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners (1-5) @ Houston Baptist Huskies (2-2)
Time: 8 p.m. (est)
Location: Houston, Texas, USA @ the Sharp Gymnasium
Game Note: Houston Baptist is riding a high after defeating ACC school Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons have many issues that can be discussed later, but for now, the Huskies are on top of the world. UTSA has improved since an embarrassing home-opening loss. The Roadrunners are coming off their first season win after facing a gauntlet of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, California-Irvine, and South Dakota State.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders (4-2) @ Texas-Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros (4-3)
Time: 8 p.m. (est)
Location: Edinburg, Texas, USA @ the UTRGV Fieldhouse
Murray State Racers (3-0) @ Alabama Crimson Tide (4-1)
Time: 8 p.m. (est)
Location: Tuscaloosa, Alabama, USA @ the Coleman Coliseum
Network: SEC Network+
Game Note: This is going to be a very telling game. Alabama has been inconsistent to begin the season, although have rattled off nice wins against Ball State and Wichita State since a head-scratching loss to Northeastern. The Racers have been impressive right off the bat, but now face their toughest opponent yet and probably until Mid-December when they face Auburn.
Omaha Mavericks (3-3) @ Iowa State Cyclones (5-1)
Time: 8 p.m. (est)
Location: Ames, Iowa, USA @ the Hilton Coliseum
Minnesota Golden Gophers (5-0) @ Boston College Eagles (4-1)
Time: 9 p.m. (est)
Location: Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, USA @ the Silvio Conte Forum
Network: ESPN2
Game Note: Both teams have had to scratch and claw for their impressive early records. Minnesota gets the edge for more difficult opponents faced, but three of Minnesota’s first five games were won by single-digits. The Eagles struggled with St. Francis-Brooklyn before losing to IUPUI, but have seen solid victories since against Wyoming and Loyola-Chicago. More encouraging for Eagle fans is that Ky Bowman isn’t doing all the work, as Jordan Chatman scored his second 20-point game in their win over Loyola-Chicago.
Santa Clara Broncos (1-4) @ California Bears (1-3)
Time: 9 p.m. (est)
Location: Berkeley, California, USA @ the Haas Pavilion
Network: Pac-12 Network
Idaho State Bengals (2-2) @ Pepperdine Waves (3-2)
Time: 10 p.m. (est)
Location: Malibu, California, USA @ the Firestone Fieldhouse
Non-DI Opponent Games
Finally, the ‘Non-DI Opponent Games’ feature non-ranked DI schools who are matched up against a school in DII or lower.
Glenville State @ Radford Highlanders (4-1)
Time: 7 p.m. (est)
Location: Radford, Virginia, USA @ the Donald N. Dedmon Center
Winston Salem @ Appalachian State Mountaineers (1-4)
Time: 7 p.m. (est)
Location: Boone, North Carolina, USA @ the Holmes Convocation Center
Louisiana College @ Southeastern Louisiana Lions (2-4)
Time: 8 p.m. (est)
Location: Hammond, Louisiana, USA @ the University Center
